I am working on this caricature of Rihanna but something is bothering me about the arms. I can't quite put my finger on it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try make a contra pose instead. (If it's called that)
Which means the angle of the shoulders and the pelvis are opposite. I would move her right hip up, and let the left be down, then the arms would pretty much become easier to place.
Shouldn't she have more bruises and a black eye or something? Sorry couldn't resist.
Right now her center line is way off so she looks like she is falling over, her hips should line up vertically, now her shoulder is almost over her crotch.
Thank you both for responding:
Bering- you are being thrown off by her jeans being uneven. her hip is tilted opposite the shoulder line but her left hip is below the top of her jeans while her other hip is visible above it, does that make sense?
Dpaint- you are correct. I will address that. I am going to basically restart the body from the basic forms up. I think I fell into the trap of liking parts that I put down even though I knew they were wrong.
I think I am going to also do the whole body even though I am going to crop the bottom out just to make sure it is properly balanced.
Forgive me if this was uncalled for, but I wanted to see what she looked like after bumping the waist over like dpaint mentioned. (and I did it before I saw you were revamping the whole thing.) She fit together surprisingly well. You've certainly got the female anatomy down a lot better than I do.![]()

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.
actually the main reference I was using looks fairly similar to that which is how I originally depicted it (albeit I changed the direction of the head) but then I skewed it and tweaked it to be more flowing and lost my way a bit.
ok I didn't start the body from scratch yet. Instead I went ahead and moved the hips back over. Definitely reads more correctly now yet somehow less interesting. I am going to sit on it a bit to come back with fresh eyes tomorrow to see if I can spice it up a bit without throwing it all out of whack again.
What stands out to me is her HUGE (Our RIGHT, her left) shoulder. It looks inflated and is what makes her arms appear "off". Also the connection between her upper arm and forearm looks rubbery? It's like she's missing a bicep almost...
Hopes that help a bit?
PS: I liked your FIRST hips better... it's a caricature. Things should be exaggerated am I right? But NOT the shoulder on the right! xD
When you redo the body, remember that Rihanna's got MAD hips, (or rather mad thighs maybe). Her hips have a very distinct, uncommon curve to them, the apex of the curve being very low because of her big thighs. Exaggerating that shape will surely attribute a lot to a caricature likeness.

EDIT: About the hip thing (YES this is important to me) I think the reference pics are pretty bad, so to better explain, she got a bit of this thing going on. http://www.peratt.com/jan/upload/totallyhot.jpg
About the face I can't think of anything in particular that feels off.
I'm psyched to see what it looks like with the reworked body! Great job so far!

I also didn't make the adjustments to the bikini top yet simply because I didn't know exactly which direction I would stick with and it really didn't matter since I can add that at any point.
Which one do you prefer? I think I am leaning to the big headed one but it is near 3AM here and I might not be in my right mind.
I'd keep the head and shoulder distance like it was in the first one. If you try that pose, it's very painful...
Hey, i see your progression here but i know you want to keep it a characature.
I thinks you should keep your original body shape but highlight her left hip and exaggerate it and bring the highlights onto her hip essentialy filling out her jeans.
Highlight her hip well, as that point of her skeletal structure would be sticking up and would be forced against her skin should she be stood that way.
i really like it non the less![]()
