Came across the work of Maciej Kuciara yesterday. I was blown...a...Way. It's always punch in the gut when you come across the works of such an amazing artist. And depressing. And most importantly, inspiring.

One last cloud study from yesterday, notes on clouds I made for myself but thought could possibly be useful to others here, and finally a photo study.

    Metal Fingers: No, thankyou.

Some paleo stuff. Cotylorhynchus. Not a dinosaur but absolutely bizarre creature.

Enough fun, time to do some studies.

edit: Added quick portrait study. Well...testground for different brushes really.
Ref was screenshot from Monty python and the Holy Grail.

Update on the ASOIAF based painting. Still trying to figure the composition out.

I think this is significant improvement, but I would love to hear some crits on it.

Lovely sketchbook! As others already said, the way you block in your colors is really nice, I'd love to look over your shoulder while painting

For your ASOIAF based painting, I would move the figure a bit more to the left - right now, it's not really centered, but also not really on the left, but hanging somewhere inbetween... I think it would improve the composition. Also, be careful not to line up the background with the top of the antlers to a tangent. It's a promising painting so far, I really like the mood!

So much energy in the brushing and lively color choises in everything you do! I especially like the glowing colors on the still lives and the low chroma but interesting palette and brush strokes on this screenshot study. The Monty Python study also looks very solid and you nailed a lot of personality. Gotta admire your pace too, keep up the great work!

EDIT: Some thoughts on the rider painting: Firstly, I agree with Lyriana about the placement of the rider, having it in the center makes the painting look static. Also, you have antlers which look great as a silhouette so why not have part of the rider shown against the sky? That could look more dramatic and overlaps improve the sense of depth. The right side of the painting would need some point of interest but the spot of light, though it adds a really nice sense of morning/evening lighting, being cut off like that just makes it look like the pic should continue to the right IMO. The left part of the forest, being roughly as near as the rider, would need some shadows as dark as on the moose. Otherwise too, I think the forest could use more variation but of course it's a WIP. The composition needs work to make it dynamic and interesting but I like the palette and mood, and the moose blowing steam on the earlier one is a really nice detail!

MacTire: Thanks! And yes, it is indeed coldhands.

Nimhea: Oh wow, now thats an ego boost if there ever was one. Thankyou so much!

Lyraina: Thanks! I have been actually thinking about livestreaming, but I fear that horrendous stagefright would absolutely cripple me.

Oh and big thanks on your comments about the ASOIAF painting. Really apreciate it!

Ludic: Thanks! I have put alot of effort to get brush work right so I'm really pleased that it is showing and that people pick that up.

Smuli: Paint/draw every day, satoi tai paistoi.

Huge thanks for your detailed comments! You brought up a lot of good points that I really must seriously consider and think about.

Study of the day: ref was a screenshot from the movie Braveheart.
