More to come very soon. I want to keep this sketchbook clean of my laziness so I'm reworking a few posts no worries as there will be a substantial amount of solid work in here.

    Great start!
Maybe you could resize the pictures in the first thread, cause I can't really see anything like this :3
    Looking forward to see more!

I have to get some different pencils and some different media and I need to cultivate some focus.

So far this has been some stuff I have had time to do at work. That should change IMO. not enough privacy and too much distraction.

I'm going to pick up some different pencils and some pastels this evening. I do not draw a lot so the above takes some time. I really want to get a lot faster and hopefully I will have some things in here that are as substantial as the ball container study or better. As you can see I did a lesser sketch and then I did a longer study. I don't like posting without putting something here... I had done a short study of a picture of Samuel L Jackson as Mr. Arnold from Jurassic park but it's going to have to be in the next post. Thanks for looking and I hope all is well in your world.

Very nice stuff. I like the jar, and your human-doodles, they're looking nice and life like.
My sketchbook. I'm always looking for critique, so please stop by

I'm going to try to do an intensive study of Anatomy starting with skulls and skull reference.

And so the following is in graphite and tonight the larger , and hopefully more correct, skull will be worked on in charcoal and chalk.

I was hoping to use some chalk and make this much fuller and more detailed but the detail just gets lost so easily in the charcoal and I should have darkened the background or started with darker paper.

If anyone has any tips or links on working with charcoal I'd love to get them.

    Thanks for looking.

I've deliberately gotten rid of a lot of what I recently had in this sketch book so that I can keep things in here that encourage myself to work on the right things.

Hey! Very nice work going on here! I especially love the first post. It has very nice lines and the whole figure looks really fluid. The last post is very nice as well. In the skull drawing, I would say, push the contrast more by making it darker in some parts. Also, try and build up with the pencil to get a more lively shade. Pressing hard on the pencil usually flattens the shade. Hope that made sense. Good luck and keep it up!

I got my Charles Bargue book but recently I've been trying my hand and mouse at some sketch and gimp

    Edit: July 28, 2011

I have decided to remove the Hermit Crab Work from here. I will start a new one that is better right now.

Those are some really nice colors in your last post! Kinda has a watercolor feel to it. You're doing all this with a mouse too? Keep up the good work!

Just the color is being done with a mouse. I doubt I would have much luck with outlining anything or creating any good line detail with a mouse. Smudging seems to slow me down so that I'm not screwing up the color. And now this is some reference and progress.

I had to change those legs they were killing me.

Quick update. I should have started with a more complete idea. I just haphazardly started looking at the anatomy I wanted to exaggerate and I feel like the idea wants to be something else in my head ( BIGGER CLAWS, smaller head, bigger eyes, jutted jaw). All that said I think this is looking good.

Edit: Reconfigured the legs and added a fun mouth.

Perpetual Motion will be a perpetual notion in the house of cosbys ya see. so here's the result of entertaining an hour. Hours are hard to entertain. David Bowie knows.

I have a Volito II that seems to have zero pressure. A Bamboo Fun would be a step up for me. Maybe you should invest in one as well as it can take ages to something with a mouse that takes seconds with a pen. Saying that, this is weird enough to have it's own life and look forward to the next few installations.

I haven't used anything of the sort yet. I feel like I am picking up some speed and I'm reaching a certain limit of detail with the mouse. I am comfortable with the mouse so far. I think if I used a tablet I'd get hooked so I guess I'm classically nervous or apprehensive about using one ... .

Thanks for stopping by I'm glad you like.

I think for my next study I might do a scene from the movie Moon

    The next installment

I'm only working on this for about 30 min at a time every other week day. Just screwin around

I wanna do some paper sketches so look out for some.

Well, I have have been busy... obviously not here and I must say I haven't touched a pencil to sketch in ... howeverlongit'sbeen ahem. So here's what I've got. It's some ...fan art. Using Gimp and my mouse. I sketched the face first.
