This is going to be my sketchbook I feel like a total noob for not doing this sooner as I want to get better at drawing...painting...both...maybe everything. So I'm starting out small with spheres, cubes, and so on, and building up. I will post something everyday. Please evaluate my progress along the way so that we will learn together, thank you.

First post is two spheres for study, I wanted that painterly feel to my image and I want that for all of my images.

I have neglacted this thing for almost a year and now I'm back at concept art. This isn't going to be a regular sketchbook. I will be posting progress shots of what i do digitally so that me and others looking at this will learn something.This is the under painting for a still life im doing, i will post more when i get to a stopping point.

Thanks, almost done getting the values sorted out and then I will increase the resolution to start refining those rough edges.

A new painting showing some of what I do to get to a good point in it.

I drawing in pencil and charcoal, I have been trying to learn the classical methods of drawing on my own. I start with a basic block in of the big shapes using angles, then I block in shadow masses that i see.

Next is to add color, sometimes people get fooled into thinking that there maybe only a few little colors but I try to look carefully.

I will refine this soon so I can finish.

I'll try get smaller paper but all my good stuff is on about 11*14 paper so its hard to scan, well another update.

Update on my soldier, I just figured out that I need to just let go of things in my picture which means looser drawings or paintings. Need to work on poses for characters as well.

This is the head study from before the edges were too hard so I fixed them up I might color this it looks nice.

Hi Capt,
I hope you don't mind I did a quick liquify in photoshop to show you. It still doesn't look quite right. but basically your hear was really backward.

I don't know where I got this idea from I was drawing away and now i'm trying to illustrate an evil doctor. Maybe i'll add a syringe somewhere. Man i'm strange.

I saw in another sketchbook a study of one of Marko Djurdjevic's covers. So I tried doing one too. This was very fun to do I might finish it. All credit goes to Marko.

I've been taking some stills of movies I like and painting them I have a lot stills so it should be a lot of practice. The first is an unsuccessful attempt at the Red Skull from the First Avenger movie. Next up is Captain America himself. I'm going to focus on speed this time.
