    gabrieldnc begginer

    Hey everybody!
I'm Gabriel and i am 17 years old. I started to draw and paint with a new style this month, and I would really appreciate if you tell me what you think and What should I work more. This is my last year on school and next year I pretend to enter into a faculty of arts, or something related.
I'm collecting some references for sketching and i'll be posting it on a sketchbook that i'll open here.
Hope you like it and I see you soon.

Hi and welcome! Your vampiress reminds me so much of a picture I have in my sketchbook.

Out of all the pieces you have posted here, the girl in the black corset on the bottom left is definitely my favourite. One piece of advice I would give you is to clean up your brush strokes and work on your blending. This is really apparent to me in the vampiress piece. The brush strokes appear fast and haphazard and distracts me from the picture itself.

    Good luck.

If when I was 17 I had done anything digital and had done anything with even pretending to have any knowledge of color I would have been impressed with myself. I know the age doesn't matter, but this seems like something you enjoy and spend time on, so I hope you continue with it.

Right now your shapes are a little "streaky"- it looks as though you're using a tiny brush with many strokes to fill in your areas of light and shadow. Try seeing what happens when you build solid forms, with a larger brush.

I'd say you COULD work on your hands a bit, but they're coming across fairly well. The corset girls' bare feet bother me, and her knees do as well. Those are really the only places where structure sticks out as "incorrect" to me.

Nice work. I hope you keep creating and post more!

I think you really have a good knowledge of color and anatomy already. It's rather impressive to see stuff like that from someone who only draws digitaly for a month, and especially to draw like that in your age. You definately have a talent, so keep it up, never lose your goals out of sight.

You may want to improve your knowledge in shading with light and light reflection. Light most of the time appears yellow (reaching from cold light yellow to warm orange). As for the reflection color, use the complementary (blues, violettes and cyans) on the opposite side of the light source. Also you might want to learn about depth through color. There are many ways like warm and cold color, saturation and transparency. This is also very important for drawing landscapes, environment or pretty much any panorama. But also for drawing any element, human, animal, monster.
Also important: The level of detail. Raw brush strokes to push something away further, detail and contrast (different color for example) on the closer elements/ focus points.

Also I think you're ready for the next level in character drawings. Meaning, different poses, more exaggeration, more flow, breaking with the rules of stable anatomy.

I'll by time look for some guides about this, as this is the key to improve from a certain level.

Keep at it, study anatomy, draw everything you see, everything you think is fun, and some things that you might not instantly think are as fun but you feel that you need to work on. Keep it fun, stay interested and don't be afraid to make mistakes! Can't give any more useful crits than that, just keep it up! If there was a thumbs up emoticon, it'd be displayed here.

    EDIT: It was needed.
