    The ferryman has gotten very busy over the years, now that there are literally billions of people living and dying on Earth. Many of these souls can't afford passage. To solve both of these issues, he has created an entire flotilla of oar ships to ferry souls across to the underworld, allowing a number of souls to work off their debt by literally becoming part of the craft themselves. These souls are the materials from which the ferries are made, and by which they are powered. This doesn't show up too well in my image yet because I haven't started putting in any details at all, but they will be made of bodies, bones, etc.

    This rough sketch is to get the basic perspective and general forms in place.

    Working on this piece in small bits as I find the time. You could call it a speed painting stretched over intervals.

    Hey there. Neat Work. I like the direction your color is going on the last piece. How often do you draw from life? How often do you paint from life? I think you could benefit from some color studies. You'd be surprised how painting an old boot could inspire the hide of a blood thirsty dragon.
    I also think you'd benefit from analyzing composition. Composition is a bit tricky to "learn", but start looking at other artist's work and ask yourself "why is this interesting to look at, other than content?" I think your work will greatly improve.

    Keep going, see you around!

    No updates for a while since I was vacationing. I'm back to work again though, and I drew this Cthulhu idol this afternoon for a T-shirt graphic;

    Finished contribution to COW#223

    The trench scorpion is distantly related to terrestrial scorpions. While most of the eurypterid sea scorpions of the Ordovician either went extinct or evolved to live on land, one species has remained in the inky blackness of the Mariana Trench where it has eluded scientific discovery until recently. This sea scorpion uses a bioluminous lure which grows on one of a pair of antennae. When the trench scorpion senses movement near the lure, it strikes with its venomous stinger and grabs its prey with formidable pincers. The creature has the peculiar habit of walking backwards on the trench floor, and since it has long ago lost its eyes in the black abyss, it looks very much as though its "tail" is actually its "head."

    Hi frum a former Colorado dood. Miss the place.......

    Really digging what you've shared so far. Love the atmosphere in "Passage" and "Scorpion"!

    Man you've got some crazy ideas in here and a really unique style. I thin that trench scorpion works particularly well. If I were you I would consider changing the position of the cloud on the golden thingy. As it looks like he's done an earth shattering fart

    there´s a lot of crazy freaky stuff in here. I like it a lot. The traditional media stuff from the beginning of the SB caught my interest especially. Some of the high contrast pieces could work very well with the 3D Chromadepth glasses. If you ever get the chance to get some have a look at your old art with them. It´s a fun thing to play around with. Kudos on all the COW entries!!!

    Gigantocephalopodes irradiatus is thought to have mutated from the common octopus, Octopus vulgaris, as the result of a mixture of leaked petrochemicals, toxic dispersants, and radioactive waste being dumped into the Gulf of Mexico. Although a BP spokeman did not deny the well-established toxicity of the dispersants used to clean the petrol spill, he did emphatically deny that the amounts used could possibly cause this sort of terratogenic mutation alone. BP officials also denied all responsibility for the radioactive waste, citing the recently uncovered scandal involving the State of Texas dumping barrels of the waste into the gulf in a cost-saving measure. Scientists may never understand the exact combination which led to this monstrous mutation, but according to United States Coast Guard Admiral Harry Hausen, "Who gives a damn where the bastard came from; how the (expletive) do we kill the som'bitch?"

    I think you are one of the weaknesses of your face. I think you should learn drawing face, because overall, the proportion you look very pretty good to me. Long faces some not even draw and their own body.

    I'm starting work on a Lovecraft beastiary. I thought I would start with a creature called a "gug." These creatures are hard to portray effectively because they have some peculiar anatomy that looks silly if not done carefully; namely, the vertical mouth, the pink eyes, and the double-forearms.
