Detlef starts a sketchbook: Let's get awesome

good day everyone, my name is Malin, I just turned 18 years old and is currently taking media classes in Norway.

I have been drawing pretty much my whole life , but it's time to get serious about it. Learning proper anatomy, shading and coloring and I hope that getting proper feedback from my fellow artists will help me.

I usually draw comic stuff since I have a webcomic http://www.zombiewaffe.com/ but that leaves little room for proper improvement.

So let's start off with some screenshots/photostudies/original stuff. None of these are more than a week old I think.

Hey great sketchbook, you have some really nice anatomy studies there. Did you use references? Also your skin tones are great, keep updating.
Always looking for feedback, so feel free to stop by any of these, cheers.

Wow, loving the new enviroment pieces! I'm trying to make some of my own, but find it very hard to paint what I want it to look like. Do you have any tips for a beginner like me?

Thank you! And to say that i drew these from my mind would be to lie, I have a very simple way to take reference pictures and make something of your own out of it.

For these backgrounds I find some free stock images with some nice perspective lines and use those as reference to get the perspective and overall look of the background, then I find some others pictures with some colors and values I like and just use those to paint with. Really simple, the technique is very much used for people that do conceptart that have to be produced fast.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Nice work, Detlef.

I like the robot chick, despite the the various proportional errors which I'm sure you are aware of, she's kind of a mix between GLaDOS and SHODAN.

And good luck finding more joy in drawing women.
Guy or gal oh so fine
