    Wretched Sketches

Hello! I'm from NYC, an artist and musician, and I joined in order to explore and share art. These are done with sharpie pens on index cards.

I have a ton more of these spacecraft, I'll post more later. As of late, my work has looked more like this.

    Enjoy

Hey great to see newbies on CA, welcome~! It's good to see different styles at CA, I cant wait to see more from you. Hehe theres something about musicians and artists that do this style that they all have a common err uhm, herb... to help them out. Maybe you do maybe you dont. Either way love the intricacies.

Here are some link to get you started around here if you didnt already know about them.

This is a gesture drawing tool for life drawing, which people try to do as often as they can. I do mine once a day for 30 mins.

I see that you havent added colour to you pieces yet, Im not sure what your colouring/painting skills are like but I suck at colour and this tutorial really helped me out. Also it has pokemon in it and that cool right?

I keep this turorial at hand most times when i paint just to double check to see if i need to be thinking about anything, and see where my piece lacks.

Also also also, if you can try and update everyday, it keep you on your toes and youll improve dramatically. Keeeeep possssting.

Wow! That's very helpful and kind of you! I draw a lot with pen and pencil because I doodled my way through school, but never gave enough time to understanding color. I've always loved the boldness of only using black on white, but it is due time to look into other mediums and methods. This site is so cool.

Hahah you're most welcome, I'm glad you find the information useful. I was worried that it may be too much at once! I just doodled my way through school too. It wasn't till after high school that i picked up any of this knowledge, tis a strange world. Lol.

Oh also although lots of people are posting in thier sketchbooks, most of them don't comment on other people work, so if you want constant feedback you need to give back where you can, if you have the time. Also something that enjoy doing on here are the community activities like Creature of the Week and Character of the week. I'd love to see you participate. http://conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=74

Free Form Interstellar Migrants (Capital Ships)

As mentioned, more ship designs. It's a very free-form style of art. My friends like to set them as backgrounds and stare at them all the time. Feel free to post questions or criticisms, I know they're there.

Does anybody know if sharpie is ideal for writing on clothing? Is it permanent? Does heat make it stay longer? Thinking of doing some designs on T's. Thanks!

    hey,

your ship designs are really cool. they look menacing. reminds me of mad drawings i used to do when i was like 10. :-)

i use a permenant marker on cloth the other day. worked fine.

also, maybe you could try doing these designs with a different medium to vary your output. colours can also be menacing.

i'd like to see you have a go at some pencil work, or even paints, just to see what you'd produce. i'm sure you have your reasons, but if fear is one of them, just go for it..best way to improve...and branch out in this particular case

very cool designs nonetheless, please keep posting!
    ...the imperfections make it interesting...

Thanks! My style is very chaotic. Usually these free handed drawings are not planned out. I start with some lines and branch out, producing new images based on the old lines as I create. There are tons of faces and other images to look for in these drawings, but they are buried in the ink for you to find. However, I have worked on projects like flyer designs and band artwork which have required a great deal of planning and collaberation. I'm so happy you enjoy them! More coming soon!

Hey there! Thanks for your comments on my sb! I couldn't help but notice that have an interesting style going on in here.

However, after seeing some of the sharpie drawings, it seemed all the same to me. I think it would be fantastic if you would start detailing shoes, cars, or other things with your sharpie drawings!

( Like this for example )

Yes, I certainly understand what you say, the lack of color, the bold black lines, all start to seem repetitive and lack the variety of other mediums. For me, this is a very experimental phase. I'm addicted to the kinds of patterns you can get with these pens. What that car lacks in my opinion is a story within the art itself. To, me they are simple geometry's that anyone with an idea of a triangle and a circle can make. Some of my drawings are images built into other images, nearly undecipherable if you do not see the creating process. Also, mine are filled with mistakes, and I like that. I'm working on some t's at the moment, actually! You'll find them here later! Peace!

Here are some more "uglies." You can find their stories over here>>>>> http://moaimagination.blogspot.com/2...ugly-pt-2.html

I really like the style of all these drawings. They are very simple but also very powerful I think. It might be cool to see some water colors over top of them, add another dimension to them while still leaving the bold, simplicity of the lines. Just a thought, awesome work!

    New Uglies

Thanks for visiting Kendall, I really appreciate the feedback. I'll be moving on to color soon, I get a lot of support for that. I'm working on an album design concept for my band Fall of the Albatross. I'll post the sketches soon, it's coming out looking SICK! Once I'm finished with that project I will explore color more, tips and pointers to practice using color are greatly appreciated.

For now, more uglies from off my blog. You can find their short stories there.

Thanks for the support CA community! Be well!

Ok guys, here are some sketches and concepts that I'm messing with for my band's soon to be released EP. The initial girl with lotus flower in her hair was made by our drummer. I added the detail which makes her look cybernetic. The cybernetic portion also has a quality which makes it seem like a robot face is blended with her's. I'm going to propose the album name to be "The Cybernetic Compromise." In many ways this title would also describe our song writing process. I'd love some critique! Also, see for yourself if the art would compliment our sound by visiting the myspace in my sig. Thanks as always!
    Rob

    Concept art sketches

The progression will be natural, semi-robotic, fully robotic. These are the concept designs for my band's shirts. These are still in progress with a lot of tweaking to be made, but I just wanted to post since I haven't in a while. Hello!
Check out my band, and don't forget to support local music!

bold stuff. id like to see the designs in gold on her face. i love a gold me
i read a story once where a man infected himself with self aware nano, which found that it was easier to build its transmission infrastructure accross his skin rather than through his flesh, so his body became tattood with circuitry. Then it restructured his skeleton. Then it escaped down the drains, melted everyone in North America into a single consciousness and finally.. well, thats another story..

This piece is called The Cybernetic Compromise.

It represents the progression of technology blending itself with humanity. Technology is an extension of human expression, the final stage represents the singularity between the creator and the creation.

Velocity, I'd like to read that story. Can you recall the author? I just finished reading The Nonexistent Knight by Italo Calvino. He's a superb author and I highly recommend him if you like stories like the one you described.

    This story is really amazing.
