Its either a giants tuning fork or a Sonic Tank from the classic "Dune 2000" computer game, ah the nostalgia sweeps over me !

hee hee I love all of it matey, but the tank is a little on the thin side it feels like a hit from the side would knock him over, just a feeling is all.

By the way I did you some R.O.U. pics on my SB check em out and then tell me what you saw them as, it could be interesting to see what you got from the books.

wow, i really love your work, it inspires me to work on my vehicle design, and learn more about Industrial design. ive tried painting over sketchup models, not easy- but you make it look that way. thanks for stopping by my sketchbook

Ah thanks man! I tend to draw stuff from lots of angles, then figure out really rough orthos to work from.and clients like steve give me their rough drawings and I do the same.
i fill up lots of pages with biro drawings, scan the ones i need and bin the rest... cos theyre shite! then i build a really rough model, like these or the ones above, then build a much more refined one (thats what im doing today actually) based on the rough messy one.
these sorts of things, normally i never show anyone cos theyre so messy and ugly, but its a sketchbook so i guess its ok!

and from rough crap models like that, figure stuff out, and when its more or less right, build a nice neat one... watch this space if that seems interesting...

here is some more. as you can see my drawing isnt up to much, but i sort of relised it doesnt matter too much unless the finished product is a drawing. i tend to do loads of really terrible drawings just to figure things out, and then scan em and chuck em.

i guess what im saying is, i used to be sort of paralysed sometimes worrying my drawings sucked. but then i just kind of accepted they sucked but still needed to design things, so drew them anyway. it was a BIG weight off. totally frees you up to just get on with your work without worrying itll be graded on style points, cos who cares? its all about getting the final product looking nice and working rihgt, not making a fancy moleskin.

im not saying this is the right way, but it works ok so far. THE POWER OF THE SUCK!

So true, I regularly have to remind myself of this. Many of us often get carried away with the "precious" moleskine and never really use it to its potential as a sketch-book, not finished-artwork-book!

Anyway, I have to reiterate, really slick renders, I'm always blown away by your concepts here. Thanks for sharing and thanks especially for giving us an insight into your process.

Wowee! you've got some awesome stuff here! I really like the mixture of 3D and 2D work in here, I also really liked the low poly ship paint over that is just awesome sauce.
