These architectural designs, paintings, drawings are
beyond my concept of understanding. I am just amazed
by your talent, you posted so much work at once, so many
information and eye candy blow my mind open. Thank you for
sharing.
Oh, and those huge building concepts, the ones that can be seen
from outer space , wow man, just wow, I like to see things like that one is.
Keep it up like this, we will be in touch.
Hey thanks for the comment on my sb...and wow. I'm browsing through here with a crazy grin, this is awesome stuff! I love love love the sketches on scrap paper with weird technical stuff mixed in. Love your diamondy use of geometry, too, and those car sketches are killer. I'll definitely be checking back in.
Ismo: thank you dude. give it a go, we all use buildings so everyone has something to say about their design!
Partisan: big thanks man! awesome SB, i love your process shots; the design stays so fluid as you build it up. really interesting.
Catish: yeah i get what you mean about a disconnect between his words and drawings; like its all simple up to a point and then he makes a leap to something that looks really good and it can be hard to follow. makes you amazing at drawing old 'lunkheads' though eh
And All That Jazz: thankyou man! tell you what i like is the mix of abstract and realistic, like this bizarre -thing- is actually sitting there in front of you... im sure as utility fog technology ramps up there will be all kinds of braintwistingly absract looking things floating about... imagine what the average joe would do with reality-hacking tech...
Snake: you the man, thank you for looking in here! ill have a look at some more giant buildings, theyre a great theme. the cubes are so tall that the tops rise out of the atmosphere for amazing penthouse estate views and ship landing, but normal matter could not sustain the structures weight. Greg suggested they could be held together by somehow utilising the weak nuclear force to bind the support material together and hold the weight of 100,000,000 people and all their stuff.. id like to do a view out accross one of the interior voids, itd be brainbending!
Ive attached some old sketches of some REALLY big engineering below...
seili: thankyou!! the plans were the only paper i had around but it was nice to draw on as you could fold it up like a map and carry it about. try it out!
here are some more 30s and 5min biro crimes against figure sketching (im thinking of buying a book on this, any suggestions?) and some doodles of a ufo after watching nutty ufo docs on youtube.
The sketches are very stiff and ugly, Im going to work on it..

wow, slow down there, just too much information for my little brain.the cubes are so tall that the tops rise out of the atmosphere for amazing penthouse estate views and ship landing, but normal matter could not sustain the structures weight. Greg suggested they could be held together by somehow utilising the weak nuclear force to bind the support material together and hold the weight of 100,000,000 people and all their stuff.. id like to do a view out accross one of the interior voids, itd be brainbending!
Overheating possible.
Man, interesting new (old) ones that you posted, i refreshed my mental state again.
Thank you.

People use loomis and Bridgeman, I find that using books gives you too many answers. They can be a helpful resource though, so I don't think you should avoid them if that's what you're looking for.
I'd find a local figure drawing group, or if there isn't one, make one! Find your artist community and make some friends![]()

Kiwi: Good advice! The way i usually use is find the best work i can and try to figure out what makes it rock and do that...the books are good but youre rigt that relying on them completely might not be the best idea. and ive found a local group so Im going to see about some night sessions... should be fun!
Snake: have a go at some megarchitecture if you have time, id love to see what you come up with. i was thinking of doing one of a gibralter bridge made of exotic carbon nanomaterials and spide silk, and encrusted with hotels and other architecture...
Micheivouslittleelf: Thanks dude! I love your sjetchbook, very moebius! killer stuff, bookmarked..
More 5min sketches. im feel like Im learning a great deal about lines from DarkEyes' beautiful work

This is such a badass sketchbook! Love it all![]()
those studies aren't bad. but copying from photos is not very good for regular practice, as they're flat. once you go to life drawing, wow - you'll see how 3D people really are. it makes all my drawings look awfully flat. so yeah, go see some naked people and start staring. ;-)
youre so right man; copying from pictures is really hard compared to drawing from 3d; i thought that was just me... drawings from images are so flat by comparison arnt they?
thanks! ps no offense about saying your pics were disturbing, disturbing is good!
Lady Knowles: thankyou vey much indeed! hows it going your end? your pic of the punk grrl is killer, do more!

both good for work....
more sktche + a man placates his fantastically ugly girlfriend at drunk o'clock
+ some 3d pen sketchs, with Jon Bowen at Jones&Bowen, which i think i can show.. jon is a hypertalented guy, currently managing the design for a several company's whole product ranges, and working with him really taugt me to explore as many form or material finish alternatives as time allows, and ive pretty much adopted his method... for prodcut design anyway this is about 1/5th of the range we looked at intially for this particular piece.. 3ds and photoshop are so helpful in mocking up lots of texutre and colour alternativers quite quickly.

Ahh, I still can't believe how diverse your subjects are. Cars, life sketches, 3d work. It's brilliant.
Anyways, afraid I still don't have any crits. Just keep on rocking those mediums.
Really interesting stuff in here man!! I'll admit I don't have a clue as to how you've created some of your work or what exactly is going on in each piece, but it's pretty trippy haha. Keep doing it!
Ryan: he he Ill try! thanks dude. I was wondering abuot integration too... any suggestons or thoughts?
Raminafshari: thank you sir. its definitely an aim for the year, i will try to do as many studies as i can. theres so much to learn, its daunting, but fun
Naidy: thankyou very muchtheres so many different mediums (media?) to try, and not enough hours arnt there! i love your paint sketches, theyre beautiful
Jasper: your work is fantastic man, thankyou for having a look! trippy is key, most of these are just doodles, but i like imagining a story behind them; a giant religious aparition appears over Mount Fuji and F22s are scrambled to intercept. Its all ripping off Neon Genesis of course, boy i love that show.
Here are some more.. things.. playing around with an old scene in 3ds...

Damn! This thread is a huge inspiration to think outside of a conventional sense, and I thank you for that, I find myself falling victim to my comfort zone all too easily.
I have nothing to say except please keep posting!!
You must tell me how you achieved this effect though?!?
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1296461012
brilliant!!
Jeff: Thanks man. youve got a good thing going on over there! looking forward to more, the graphite gestures are just plain brilliant
Dope: thats an easy trick, get your smudge tool (in photoshop) make it quite large, give it a fuzzy edge but 100% opacity and drag things around. you can get lots of neat effects, try it out!
comfort zone is a killer, i have to look on CAO and get theshit scared out of me by the excellence, that tends to give me a kick up the bum to try new things![]()

Nice
I reallly like your house moddeling. Can i ask what you use to do these things?
Hi Shadow, thanks! I used 3DSMax to make the rooms, and photoshop to make the drawings and sketches.
Keep up the car sketching; are you going to do car design at Uni? I went to Coventry doing transport design and it was a good laugh!
I was never a natural car designer like some of the guys youll meet at uni... really smart and bloody good artists; look on CarDesignNews portfolios, theres some top student and young professional work on there to benchmark agasints..One of my friends from uni went on to design all the cars at Morgan, so stick at it it can happen...
more study, and a speed paint copy of The Murder by Paul Cezanne. that painting always reminded me of driving to work at 6:40am down the A46 from Leamington to Coventry... grim

I'm impressed by the designs you got in here. Not just quality but big range of different subjects and approaches. Figure drawing needs more work but I'm sure you'll improve in no time. Last studies have nice watercolor look.
love your designs and ideas,3d skills is really impressive again man, i like the texture on the last piece, what are they doing by the way?^_^
My sketchbook.

Farvus: thank you dude, that means a lot man... yeah figures are my big push this year...
your SB is so dope
StrangeDawn thanks! but its more the software being clever than me!
the cezanne i copied is called The Murder... you can just see the knife in the guys hand...
here it is http://www.paul-cezanne.org/The-Murder.jpg

something's bothering me about that very last sketch..the right (from her perspective) leg that sticks out seems to be a little too fat, and it doesn't look as if it would connect well at the kneee..the right arm also looks a little suspicious
edit: i think it's the angle of the shoulders. shrug
if you're not already, i'd suggest showing some construction lines in those studies so we can help you progress faster
and thanks for the links
cheers
Velocity
@ this time i am not learning a cardesign, but possibly on 2012 i gonna go to Germany - Bauhaus Universität Weimar or somewhere else(also i have searched US design schools).
In Estonia is also a Art University, but lessons in that school is not so good as in West-Europe schools.
In Weimar i have thinked to learn architecture os some art lessons![]()
Excellent 3d work as usual and your figure work is improving well.
great sketchbook
fantastic -sometimes confusing- artwork![]()
hey, so i outlined a few things that were buggin me, hope it helps
1. subtle change, more angled shoulder
2. more space between the legs
3. the upper leg cuts in more, so the bend of the knee looks more natural
4. the muscle is farther over, closer to the boob
lemme know if none of that made sense
oh and i hope you don't mind me posting this here
Sick sketchbook. I gotta say the variety of media and subjects makes it very interesting to look through. I dig the way you're handling tone on your anatomy studies - trying to figure out how. Looks kinda like brush pens that are drying up, heheh.
I guess since I have to throw a crit in here...apart from the 'keep up the anatomy studies' since you obviously are...I'd say blood doesn't leak out of people in quite so linear a fashion (re: the snow blood trail).
Keep it up, man.
