Hey Wingal, nice animations.Critique wise, watch your line quality.
Quality > Quantity.
Bye.
PS- This is Ven S, my old account went crazy.
Hey Wingal
Hope you had a great Christmas
The greyscale painting is looking good, keep pushing at it. That cactus looks like a digimon, from the first season, lol @ it's buttnot sure what the other things is looks like a muffin snow man? The walking on the other one looks solid, but why is the other one ice skating on grass?
Can't wait for your next update!

Really nice stuffI especially liked the bird painting you posted in her. It's cool to see the improvement you made. What's also interesting is seeing the path you are going with animation. I myself have always wanted to try, but never really did. So I look forward to any work you post about that.
Two things you may want to work on are tonal studies and perspective studies. So maybe setup a still life or sketch what's around you (like the room you're in). Than afterwords, do something from your imagination that involves what you studied. For example, I do this with hands/feet. I do about 5-7 studies and then do about 3 from the imagination. I usually spend about 40 min to an hour.
If you haven't already, I suggest looking for any book by loomis, specifically I think Successful Drawing. You might also like Fun With A Pencil, he teaches you some cartoon anatomy in that one if I remember correctly. http://alexhays.com/loomis/
Happy New year everyone!

Hey doll! Loving the art(ps. I missed you)
I love how you're constructing your figures, but your animation seems a bit choppy![]()
My mind is like WHOOSH WHOOOSH!!
I can give you a tip about oil pastels...use a pen or a pencil and rub the crap out of them to cover the whites and get a beginning blend, i can post an example I did on my sketch book later
w8 nvm i think thats crayon lul

Hi Wingal, all the best this new year. Maybe try doing some clean lines over your pencils digitally.
You inspired me to make a quick tutorial on making gif animations in Photoshop. I'll post the link in my sketchbook soon, jsut doing the voice over now, should be up in a few hours of me posting this message.
Also for your pencils try drawing the basic drawing really lightly or knock it back by dabbing it with a kneadable eraser, then you can do clean lines on top. Try getting a better line flow, keeping your pencil on the paper more rather than kind of scratching away. Getting a good line flow really helps for animation. Maybe do some studies of cell frames from Disney animations and the like.
But yeah definately do some gestures daily or when you can for warmups, it's super helpful.
Happy new year! I like your funny anaimls keep it up! Just two ideas: (1) try to understand the forms better. This site might help you (it has Loomis books):
http://fineart.sk/photo-references/a...-anatomy-books
(2) The line quality stuff everyone mentioning: once you found the form, try to reinforce it with a few (actually as few as possible) confident lines that clearly defines what you found.
Struggling to try find a different painting style. I want to be able to go from grey scale to color. All of these are attempts at that. And i failed. The other paintings i have on here, the ones i think are half decent (the bird and the spider) I didnt work in greyscale first. Thanks for the links and the advice.
And those are color pencil atcs the dragon cards were. They are for a swap for Chinese new year

Yo Wingal, study group guy checking in. Your animals are really coming along, you should do some photo or if you can life studies at your local zoo. I've been bringing small sketchbooks with me on outings, there's a Children's Zoo just 35 minutes from my house. That knowledge really comes out when you're doing Animal related drawings.

Good to see you're back! BTW, that penguin has a wicked pimp hat ;D
A tip I got about colour: Try not to use too many colours. Use higher contrasts and saturation for the main focal point and lower the contrast and saturation for parts that are out of focus.

Wait the penguin is a pokemon right?
THANK YOU FOR THAT WEBSITE ARSTY POSES, it really helped me
I've been sketching the nudes with the drawing tool they provided for 5 minutes each.
Hope that tip helped you, I actually got carried away by the assignment.
Tip: even if you think your done, you actually know your not because the 5 minutes aren't up. And if your taking too long with the nudes, give yourself less time to draw them (about 30 secs). You'll loosen yourself up like that and give yourself the gesture instead of details. My art teacher helped with this![]()

Hey Wingal, long time no see! It's looking good here, I would just advise you to do more realism studies (like from photo or life) as well as your usual stylization things![]()
Hey you! Yes, you! Crit me!

Good going! I like the seals best, haha ;D
I'm gonna go ahead and second what cloudcan just said, I think drawing from life (or reference, for that matter) is a good way to get the basic foundations down. You're obviously very comfortable with drawing stylized animals, why not try something out of your comfort zone?![]()

Long time no see. I dont want to third what she said because its just repeating. Maybe you could try different kinds of textures on your stylized animals. Like trying to make scales look real or damn well close to. At least its branching out in some way![]()

Most of those animals were picture studies -.- Only 1 page of the lions and pumas was from imagination, testing what i learn, then the bird was after i drew real birds... Same with the gecko...
Anyway here was a trade with some guy who didnt make him his mind so i just half assed 2 things instead of making 1 cool one.
