Hey there,
Nice work @ #173 i think its a really good practice because youll be improving in digital painting. theres a visible improvement when compared with #163. Why dont you do this everyday? a simple object would do. give it a try.
I posted these links in shiNIN's sb some time back. hope itll be useful for you as well, so reposting here. there could be more to this series but i only manged to find these 4 at the moment.

Really impressive progress with your people and figures! You shouldn't be so scared of working more still life digitally, there are some control problems in the lines and ellipses but its great to keep at it. I also really like your Alice picture, the expression is so apt, really hope you finish it soon![]()
Hey guys! Sometimes the Powers that Be just have a very different idea of the way your day is gonna go. Weird sh*t kept happening this morning that put me in a very bad state, and without any time.
So I leave you with this horrendous drawing, and I will have to respond to all of your amazing comments later today.
I'm so sorry! *LAME LAME*

The figure inklings look really nice, great way to train catching characteristics! Keep it upppp Kiwi dude, keep it up![]()
Okay, I have a few minutes to respond to your delicious comments!
Ramalooke: Yeah, I can tell that I'm drawing with a tortured wrist, because I think I'm developing carpal tunnel! I need to start practicing with my whole arm. Hard to do on a small plane though.
FootstepsBeckon: I think in the evenings I'll do longer still lifes to balance out my approach. It's one thing to try to scramble, and quite another to really study every detail.
Quigleyer: Thank you! I'm glad people have been pushing me to up the brush size. It definitely helps.
Spivak000: Indeed, fun, but intimidating! I think I might solidify my understanding of the form before I leap into that arenaBut look out when I get there! Yargh!
Arepa: Your name is so tasty. And I am extremely hungry. Torturous! Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the experimentation. It's really the best way to tackle any misgivings about doing something one is uncomfortable with or unsure about. It opens many doors! And no recycled paper? That's unfortunate...It's fairly easy to make your own though
All you need is a blender, some starch, and some paper!
Sean McClain: Thanks! This thing has been a great motivator for me. I'd done a sketchbook a long time ago and didn't stick with it. I don't think I really had my eye on the prize, wasn't in it for the studies. I feel like this is really gonna get me somewhere. Thanks for the support! I'll try to keep pumping the gas
Gof: I agree! The crits have really helped
TacoMeat: Thanks friendI will do some longer studies now.
devastacio: Hey! I was actually getting up every morning to do a studyI will continue to wake up with art! And thanks so much for the links, they're really helpful
I'm sure that they'll improve my work substantially.
LtPlissken: YOU TOO! And Grazie.
Sivonja: Damn. I gotta get some coffee in that mug. It's stressing people out hahaha. And thanks for the encouragement. Just gotta keep pressing on!
iven: Thank you! I'll include more gestures as I go alongAnd I'll check your stuff out too, not to worry
SuperSwank1: Thanks dudeAlice has surprised me with a lot of good feedback
PixieTrick: Haha, really? Looks like you said something pretty insightful in your post anyway. "Questioning what you are doing and learning" is a very profound thing to say. So don't second guess your advice!I will strive to enjoy every minute of my art. Cheers!
PaintMyBrain: Thanks friend, I'll try to figure her outAnd no problem, I try to contribute in every post.
Nelka: Thank you! Yes, I have to keep working through the fear. It's just so weird drawing without paper, no real give or take in the mediumBut it's a different approach and way of thinking, good for keeping me well rounded! I'll try to finish Alice, she's hard to resolve!
Justas: Thank youu!! It's a really great exercise, and fun. I recommend it!
...
Thanks guys. The support is amazing. I go to sleep with a smile on my face! I will continue to support all of you as well![]()

hello.
The previous mug painting was okay but now... you use that scribbling again... Many object can stand that if done artistically but a your mug is a nice shiny warm roundinsh thing, it doesn't need those I think.
I've read what you wrote about the puke-y oneDon't put you under unnecessary stress... 20 minutes seem to be enough for a decent simple still life when everything is okay, skill, mood, whatnot. I guess a pro can pull off something like this any time (and even if he/she would say otherwise, the result would be still great for the normal folks).
But when you paint something, you are the current version of you and the time you need has no relation to the above. Even you you do it fine now, maybe tomorrow it will be different. Life is like that. Practice helps. Appreciate the fact you practice, even if the results aren't so good you expected...
Your figures are kinda nice (I just rushed over your whole sb, I can't say useful things now), sometimes really cool. There are room for improvement on faces, features sometimes are a bit off.
Keep it up and try to get friendly with those cups and mugs, I never really knew the difference, I will never be really good with English but I can make me understand and chat with people like you so it's not so tragic.
Hey, I just read on the internet that life studies will going to kill you.
Michael Jackson was doing lots of life studies...
Just joking.
Anyway, your painting is ok, do not discourage yourself.
I will do that instead of you.
Joking again.
But, you just do a lot of these life drawings and paintings and
you will get better and better. That of course rarely happens
from one day to another, but you just have patience, faith and
do not let a bad mood to get too much to your core.
I always have a load of trouble getting myself to do still lifes myself, so I think just the fact you're sitting down and getting to buisness is a good thing.
Keep up the good work mate!![]()
Thanks for commenting on my sketchbook!
You're making a lot of progress, but I'd like to see you really focus on a piece, finish it out, or even work on getting cleaner lines.
Just my observations, keep posting!

hey there,
as 'Snake' already mentioned dont you worry too much about a few messed up work. i too did some nasty wonky faces lately and made me wonder "will they haunt me when im sleeping"You may see that last paint job as a utter failure but trust me, through failure you'll be successful. btw if i paint the same thing i might not drink coffee for some time. Muahahaha ....
cheer up mate. your friends are here with you. now go do an update for us will ya?
EDIT :
heres something i found just now..some daily painting stuff. check the suggestions on the right side as well. could be useful.

Haiyo!
Thanks so much for the kind words, a very healthy sounding endorsement!
Gestures are looking great, still lifes need a little more patience, something more vibrant, i've personally loved painting organic still lives![]()
Please keep it, people capable of short and sweet words like that are necessary to fuel forums like this!

Some really nice work you have here.Though it looks like you'd benefit by going back on some of your studies after they're done, you can vaguely see the gestures of people behind some of them (I mean the really quickly done ones that are referenced from life: people walking past etc) and then try to fill in the gaps from memory, good for putting anatomy studies into practice when you're trying to use memory as your guide.
Hey Kiwi hope all is going well with school. Keep up the studies, even if only a few mins a day. Otherwise, where would we all post?keep up the good work
hey kiwi!
wow, youre drawing is really good. its crazy the difference between your drawing and your cg paint. Have you seen the peer project? its basically a bunch of exercises to help one understand how colour/light/paint works, it might help you get a solider foundation for your painting.
anyway i like your drawing a lot, and the alice concept is cool
keep i tup!
