Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 2011

So, has anyone had a chance to test it out, yet?

2010 is hands down the best concept sketching program I've used.

But it loves to forget my pen, mid-drawing in 7 64 bit, since I upgraded my OS.

I'm assuming this was fixed in 11, but I'd love to know what people think of the other improvements.

I've been using 2011 since it first appeared and I think it's the best yet. If you like 2010 then you'll like 2011. It now has Layer Blending Modes, new Oval, Rectangle, Line and Polyline Tools and you have the option of a floating tool bar. Oh, and you can now add text.

I wish I'd browsed my e-mail last week, when amazon sent me a notice that the upgrade was on sale for only $24.

But oh well - $32 for those upgrades AND no 64-bit pen loss is too good to pass on!

I'm currently using 2011 and it's hand-down the best program I've used, as cliche as it sounds, I feel more productive with it than photoshop.

There's a GREAT tutorial by Brett Bean in the latest Imagine FX, too. The DVD has hours of video as he works through a drawing completely in SBP 2011.

hmm yeah a few nifty extra features but it doesn't feel like much of an update to me. probably because it's meant to be a light weight program

I got mine from the mac appStore and i think it a great sketching program with some very nice features,, the way you easy can create Ovals and so on...

One thing bugs me though ,,is it possible to move all layers at ones?
if you have.lets say 5 layers and want to move them at the same time,,i can´t seems to figure that out..


I think its really cool people sharing experience with the program

Overall it's a great program, but there a couple of things that really annoy me:

- It easily gets very slow on a large canvas ( compared to say SAI )
- No proper masking tool. This I find hard to forgive.

We picked it up from the Itunes AP store when it was on super sale and I have been pleased. I usually use Painter to sketch out ideas, but Sketchbook Pro is faster and more stable on the Mac than Painter X. Not to mention the fact that the marquee tools/scale actually work!

I got sbp 2011 a few days ago (ordered it from the net). Does anyone know any tutorials on how I can paint straight from scratch? This is my first time I've ever used it but even I got the app on my ipod touch way before I got it for my laptop.

A few days ago, I figured out, that you can download free student software of Autodesk.

Would it make sense to have Sketchbook Pro AND Photoshop? Some people use SAI and PS, but I just found out about Sketchbook Pro and don't know much about it. Do you need a Wacom tablet to use it?

Yes it would make sense as there are little to no image editing tools in SBPro. On the other hand SBPro is excellent for sketching, much better than PS. And yes, you do need a tablet as SBPro has been designed specifically for pen and tablet use - you don't even need a keyboard most of the time.
