Hello all,

I'm Tom van de Merbel. I just joined this forum. I'm from the Netherlands and studied media design, graduating on the subject of game design. I also spent some time on art academy. I'm currently trying to establish myself as a creative freelancer and seek to dramatically improve my somewhat dulled and insufficient art skills.

Some likes and dislikes (probably not relevant, but whatever - just bear with me :p)

- like: earl grey tea / books / brainy stuff / good movies and trivial anime series that make me relax / Classical and Trip-Hop music / long walks / the hang-out-with-friends thing / wasting zombies.
- dislike: maliciously ignorant or extremely bossy people / noisy crowds.

I'm glad to see there are so many brilliant artists that roam here. The more there is to learn for me .

First of all, welcome to CA mate. This is a very cool forum and members here are friendly and very helpful. Anyways im a newbie so im not gonna bring on any critiques, Seems like you're off to a good start. Best thing to do is keep practicing and post daily if possible.

dig the still life man! one thing id pay attention to is plane and perspective of your objects seem alittle wonky.

Many thanks for the advice OmertA! I noticed some perspective errors when flipping, but called it quits anyway. I especially have difficulties with getting the ellipses right.

Game design @ the HKU?

Anyways, can't really give you any constructive criticism yet, but I CAN say that I'm liking your stuff already. Nice colors on the still life! Can't wait to see more.

Nee, geen game design aan de HKU, maar een andere opleiding waar nauwelijks werk in is ;p. Ik heb media design gestudeerd aan de Hogeschool Utrecht en tijdens het eerste jaar een basisopleiding gedaan aan de HKU. Uiteindelijk ben ik afgestudeerd bij een gameontwikkelaar en heb ik een stapel papier gevuld met gezwam over game design. jij?

Another Still Life. It was pretty difficult to observe well with the light low. It still contains some errors and very rough areas. Anyhow, I don't have the patience to work on it any longer. Next!
