Thanks for the video! I'll make sure to take a look at it.
And yes, I definitely need to practice my ellipses, Though, I haven't really bothered with them up until a couple of days ago, so as with everything… I have a long way to go

Today was all about procrastinating... my chemistry homework that is . The reason I picked engineering as an education was so I'd be solving problems, and so I'd actually be doing something, not reading bunches and bunches of text -_-

So I spent a lot of time doodling in a non-serious way.
I'll make sure to finish at least one serious study by the end of tonight. Not that you'd be able to tell the difference…

    Now, back to chemistry.

    edit:
    Or...not

I got a pack of A3 paper with 500 sheets!
it's kind of a hassle to scan, but it's nice to draw on, as I can move my arm more freely, which hopefully will be better for my RSI.

I have a feeling that I really do not get gestures yet.

And, I really need to pay more attention to proportions regarding my hands.

I also did some more cubes but, I already threw those away in the trash.

Today I had another flareup of RSI, no idea why...
So I was really pissed off. so I didn't really do much today. However, wanted to get at least something down on paper, so I just Drew this adorable fluffy bird, from some picture.

And, because I was feeling so sorry for myself, I decided to bust out the oil paints and have a go at that.

I guess I could've done a lot better, but I'm still figuring out how oil paints work. And I was already happy that my arms could tolerate this.

As much as I regret to say this, I think I need to take a couple of days to a week off from drawing, so hopefully my arms will recover some. If I draw, It will probably only be like 15-30min. max.

    My room, again.
At least… It's better than my last attempt, right?
Perspective seems to be my arch nemesis right now.

I think if I took my time, it would have been better. So, since I can only draw for about half an hour for a while each day, maybe I will try to draw my room sometime again but then spend a couple of days on it.

I was focusing more on shape, then details. Practicing ellipses And using the measuring stick.
But, I might have to redo this again because it looks like crap!

From here on out I will call "ellipses"

    "ovals"

Because, whenever I say "ellipses", my speech recognition turns it into three dots ---> …
which is highly annoying to correct every time.

Take your time with the studies ebi, there's no time constraints. Measure proportions and angles with your pencil and try to feel/visualize the form.

Your bird came out great! Keep up the good work.

    Hey, thanks for stopping by!
Haha, you're totally right. For some reason, whenever I start to draw it feels quite similar to how I experience my chemistry lectures ( my mind can goes blank when I see equations and then my brain scatters all over the place ).

But, I'll try to remind myself to give myself a little more time to finish things ( except for gestures, as I usually do those in 15-30 seconds, But, I guess with gestures I should take some seconds to actually visualize the lines on my paper before putting them down.).

I haven't really figured out how to measure angles yet, but I'm sure that if I keep up with drawing I will figure it out soon.

And thanks for the compliment! It makes me want to work even harder!

both are from life. I am a little unhappy with them but, I guess they're all right.

And some Bridgeman stuff I ran across, from a couple of months ago...I can't remember posting them here.
Which reminds me, I should probably try and make one of his Bridgeman block models sometime.

    lol thanks
    It's true though!

Today I'm just doing some gestures.
I had some laser therapy and acupuncture today to combat the pain and I'm always amazed at how much it works! So, the next couple of days I'll take it easy because this pain free feeling feels just a little bit too good to ruin by my drive to draw

If I can't resist, I might add some more tonight, but I won't count on it.

After to take one, I told myself to just stop the timer and to do the gestures in my own time. I think doing it this way, has a few more benefits for me right now, while I'm still learning. Once I get the hang of "slow gestures", then I'll go back to timing myself again.

I'm not sure I should even say this, but I like top right one from the second scan the most.haha

    pixelovely one-hour session:

I guess, I'm having a lazy day. For some reason I'm trying to avoid drawing from life :p

    okay, one from life then.
    same mug from last time.
Never realized the handle is like \ (crooked?uneven?).
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut as a critique, in my case, I can do better!!

Told myself I could paint if I'd copy something from life.
I am a sucker for paint.

Sadly, I was naive enough to think I could succesfully paint an apple.
It looks like a 10 second speed paint at best:p
But at least I got close with the values?...

One hour oil paint study (I guess it's a study >_>)

on baking paper. Much cheaper than gessoed watercolour paper or canvas boards ^^
Makes it a lot less intimidating to just paint.

Went in without a plan, just a ref. pic.

I clearly have no idea what I'm doing XD
I think I'll start reading Harold Speed's book this week. And obviously just continue drawing.

I like your bridgeman study. about faces, try to mirror your drawing while drawing if u have a mirror or u can also scann in and then flip the image. Try to do what u do with bridgeman, break it down with simple shapes and from there u can do adjustments. In post #45 I can see myself doing something similar for some year ago.
Keep at it and if u can, buy or lend andrew loomis books

Thank you for your advice. Actually, I agree that breaking it down would be better, I really have to force myself to take those steps so, because usually I become like that crazy kid who has apparently become the thumbnail of this thread for some reason.... But anyway I become like that and I immediately focus on the outlines of the figure :/

It's nice to know, though, that I'm not the only one who has made mistakes like in post #45 it gives me a little hope that I can improve.

But, I guess I'll just work my way through the three little Bridgman books that I have and hopefully by the end of it I'll be able to think in simple shapes before adding the details!
After that I'll continue with Loomis

I'm a little bummed that I haven't been able to do much yet, because of exams and such. as I thought that with the last exam having ended a few hours ago, I would feel like a newborn person or something and have tons of energy but it's the complete opposite. I have a headache and I can fall asleep any moment.

    But here's a start:

What I noticed so far is that I have a tendency to make my faces short and why. So I'm trying to combat that by drawing everything a little bit longer and a little bit narrower then I think is okay. It seems to work slightly. Though I guess that means I'm not looking, but I'll deal with that tomorrow.
I'm also trying to work with pen for a while now, in the hopes that I'll put a little more effort in line placement. The downside is that one should put it pen stroke down, it's there and you can't erase it>_<

Today I had to attend some ceremony at a Mandir...
Since his ceremony/ritual thing was going to last for at least five hours, I decided that it would be perfect for breaking in my new little sketchbook.
I planned on doing Bridgman studies, bbut that got really boring and I couldn't concentrate at all so I ended up just sketching the people there. My first time drawing people in the wild and not from pictures!

It was awesome so I'm going to try and take my sketchbook everywhere from now on.

Though, drawing people from life made me wish I was a bit better at drawing, because I really don't do those people any justice. In fact, most of them even have a face. And it was a real challenge in general, because most people were wearing lots of fabric, while I'm used to drawing people nude..

    Anyway, here we go:

I never realized how much people move their stuff around!!!AAAh!

I'm most satisfied with that drawing on the right.of all of the sketches I made today.

I really do hate this paper, the pencil really smears if you just touch it on here. Next Time, I'll Splurge a Little and Get Some Quality Paper.

Tried to apply some rBridgman on here, but I still have a long way to go.

For some reason in the past days, even though I got treatment for it, my RSI has gotten out of hand, so while I'll continue drawing… I don't think I'll be updating here for a while as scanning and uploading pictures and then resizing them is a pain (literally).

Tried to use my wacom Bamboo...

was fun but aggravates my RSI T_T
I wonder (one can wonder right?) if a Cintiq'd be RSI proof :/
    Or a bigger wacom pad.

Oh well, guess I'll just waste 1000s of sheets of paper for the sake of getting better at drawing ^_-
    It's a good cause, right?

So I try to apply what I learned from Loomis, in a 20 to 30 min. sketch of myself.

    Here is my first take:

hahaha I was really puzzled why my eyes got so high up in my face, but then I realized I made some wrong measurements.

Then I try to correct some things a little:

Eyes are still a little bit too high I think.

Then I realized that the line that divides the circle in half is the brow line, not the eye line.
So, I'll do another self portrait sketch thing soon and see if I can get it Right.
But, if I say so myself, I think it looks a lot better than my shrunken voodoo head doll from Post 45.

    And lots of gestures.

    phew!

I'm starting to realize how important the position of hands and feet are for gestures. So, I'll try to make an effort to study them more whilst doing gestures, and in general.

    update: now with extra feet!
Some quick life drawing... I'm starting to enjoy it more and more!

    quick warm up sketch

    30-45 minutes.
Then the doorbell rang and I had to stop. Maybe I'll add the second foot tomorrow. Maybe I'll start over.

    feet are weird.
