    Help wanted

Hey so this image has come along quite well up to this point other than the occasional speed bump, but I would love some help. I'm going to be working on it all night so i'll post every hour or so as I go. This image was really inspired after looking at Kekai Kotaki, his stuff is absolutely amazing.

A little more work, i'm going to darken the mountains behind his head a little, and also add footprints and more blowing snow in the forground.

For now, I would say it's a pretty solid first WIP... although the only thing that bugs me, is that the human knight, isn't wearing anything logical related to that harsh and cold weather you are trying to represent. He looks like he's just wearing a simple and light leather jacket.

So if you want to give a higher level to that atmosphere you are trying to create, which I understand is :a cold, lifeless harsh and scary land full of snow with demons living there. I suggest you to add more fur,etc to that Knight, giving him a more puffed look.

reference pic that could be usefull for you

Yeah, ah, Houghton? I'd advise thickening the human's torso...

I think the image could use a bit more work in the dynamics. Right now the knight stands there with his weapon in his hand, but away from the demon. No trained soldier would do that, unless caught by surprise. But the demon is just standing there, maybe slowly moving in, but nothing all too threatening atm. It did obviously notice the knight though. If it were either rushing in for an attack, catching the knight by surprise, or looking like it just noticed the knight as well (it could have its back turned towards the knight, or look like it just emerged from the snow or something) and the two are both startled and sizing each other up, the dynamics between the two work better I think.

    Looking cool so far.
    - Do you plan on adding any hint of color into the bg sky/mountains? The current greyscale in the bg doesn't really jibe with the current saturation level of the foreground (character).
    - Also, I would suggest simplifying the contour on the shading on the guy's helmet, because at the moment, I can't clearly tell where he's looking.
    - I wonder if the composition might feel better if the demon guy was shifted over to the right some, so he's not all stuffed into the corner of the canvas.
    - The demon seems pretty out of place with the current environment. If that's intentional that's fine, but if he is supposed to be native, I would consider making him look more adapted to the environment. Also, if the curvy hips on the demon is not intentional, I would rework that.

Looking forward to progress on this!
