Icon 180 Vertical Panorama oil painting WIP

Just sharing a painting in progress. Its only the most basic underpainting right now, nothing special so far but I thought I would start a thread to keep me on track in the next couple of days.

Basically its a 180 vertical panorama. Unlike my other ongoing painting this one is a break from the dreariness.

Oh yeah and here is a photo of my references board to get an idea of kinda what I am going for

Lol, I get it. For anyone confused, it's like capturing a view starting at one horizon, turning your gaze straight up and then finishing on the opposite horizon.
It hurts my head to think about making that perspective work on a flat piece of canvas, but I guess it's like a flat map of the world. You're going to have to pick and choose some local perspective over others.
I feel like, realistically speaking, you need more sky space inbetween the horizons, but I also understand you have a limited canvas on which to work.
    Good luck!

Is that a tree at the bottom of the painting? Unless that one tree has particular significance, I would not have it dead center.

    Thanks everyone for their comments

@Dindon: Good advice. I believe you are correct on that and after awhile I decided that the best thing to do would be to just allow for some negative space. I plan on still having the water down at the bottom but I first want to get the grass rendered up more first.

@Wooblood: Bingo! I am glad to hear you recognized it.

@Slothboy: But of course. Its going to be fisheyed warped. but I am trying to make it consistent and feel correct.

Good progress. As much as I like the concept, I fear that the end result might come out a little boring. Are you planning on adding any elements? An obvious way to add some interest to it would be to add one or more people to it. If you did one person on each hemisphere, you could do boy/girl, old/young person, same person front/back, etc...

I was thinking about adding a person somersaulting on the top piece and then the jet trail would be behind him so it would almost look like he was flying or something. I wasn't sure if that was crossing the line between whimsical and silly though.

Another update. It was empty so I added some birds. Also I am trying to bump up the complexity of the trees.

So I feel like I am nearing a point of completion, to maybe be even put on the "It's Done Forum". But I have never done that, so I am not really sure if that would be okay. I need to fine tune the Sun and some things about the shadows, but I am feeling pretty good about this. However, I am here to learn, not to pat myself on the back. If there are some problems that need to be fixed, please tell me now before I embarrass myself. Thoughts?
