Download easytoon and start getting some animations up, but don't forget the sketches and stuff too. One of the mice is eaten?, kind of hard to tell.
Sketchbook
"Beliefs are rules for action"
"Knowledge is proven in action."
"It's use is it's meaning."
glad I could kick you in the face over the internetbeen tryn to do that to someone for years. Easytoon is a good way to figure out and experiment with animation seriously or non. And I agree with armando to not forget sketching in the sketchbook... but I am glad that you have a renewed intrest in art animation and what have you. Happy new year Ill be back.

??
Ok lemme try this eh
Old drawing of what was my main inspiration at the time
Old anim I made which got me a decent grade
this is the bg so far for my planned animation, being used as a rotoscopeyoull see
its full size is pretty big for obvious reasons being used in flash
Here is the wip fight obvious bit of fun for me
and heres how far ive got with my noobish attempts in flash, only picked it up about a week ago bla.
http://img336.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sofar5ge.swf
Hopefully my last workings at the mouses walk next step to make the ninjas
Just gotta do another 8 inbetweens to make it nice and obviously make it into the poor ol mouse
Heres my wip of my snake so far..
Crits really apreciated as I want to get top marks for this animation(its the 1st time ive started doing any animation longer than 1 sec)
Last edited by Flynn; January 2nd, 2006 at 11:59 AM.
Slight update on the walk, tis now damn gracefull
Done on 1s this time not 2s, all inbetweened and it makes me a happy bunny
More crap tomorow![]()
its cool to see your animations, i really like the egg superhero guy, though i feel his squash and strech could be exaggerated more. keep posting your animations, dont get to see too much of those around here.
Ok its fairly obvious im absolutely shit at drawing, ive been trying to draw what I hoped was my final attempt at the mouse doing its walk. But alas I can manage the timin on scribbles but anything else bla ><
So I intend to do a real sketchbook now aswell as animationsso many cool guys in this place. But as I suppose you should, Ill put up my "early" drawins ><
I know there horible, shamefull even but it had to be done?

Keep going - I'd advise you check out some Loomis (www.saveloomis.org) for anatomy. Don't worry too much about detail until you've got the basic shapes right, and then you can start to refine what you have.
I'd also suggest you keep away from stylized works while you're learning anatomy - it usually does nothing more than throw people off. You're much better off understanding how things *really* are before trying to twist them too much .
Good luck with your drawings, and with some dedicated practice I'm sure there'll be some great things in here before too long!
Mid.
Cheers midnight, and right you areill start doing a seriosu sketchbook attempt soon as my deadlines are out the way, till then im hanging on to my animation and graphic projects by the teeth!

anyways more doodles, probaly made another 1sec on my animation, only another 24 to go
My snake in perspective and ninjas are holding my progress up by miles !!
really cool animations dude, and keep practicing the basic stuff, it will help you termendously.
Cheers and keep postin
Thankyou diego I really am trying to make time for life studies an wtithat notand great sketchbok m8
Anyways been a hard few days for me only done another second of animation and the deadlines looming i ait even proud of what ive achived yet ><
But Ive managed to finish my intro titlemy snake rises and raaaawwrs in time to the lions roar of the MGM title

sweet, animations. Im thinking about going into it, not sure i have the work ethic tho. Sure is cool seeing ur own drawings come to life tho. Have u tried that techniq were u right down all the letters of the aphabet in lines?
ie aaaa
bbbb
cccc
But u rotate each letter in each row 45 degrees. It helps u to reqognize comon shapes and lines while drawing animation. And how they relate to one another wen they are moved.
but yeah, anatomy, u need work there (ca.org slogan). Those life studies are good tho.
Keep up the hard work and post more.
Good start at animation. I wanna start myselfDo more anatomy and life studies. Cool SB.

Thanks OBX, great tip but at the minute I cheat by using my own lightbox made from a redundant draw, ill post a pic of it sometime
And the work ethic is pretty stupid, if ya lazy you just wont ever get anythin done to any level, wereas if your mad and like waking up at all hours to add little touches then youll do fine(ittle touches that take 2-3 hours)
I definately plan to improve my life drawing studeis on all sides
Fooxoo cheers m8 its easier than you think to start digitally(traditional costs a whole load of £££ to start >< )
wow good lively anims
how long does it take
sketchbook here

PEACE
Looking good. wen are u gonna learn to do some flash animation? coz I love samurai jack.
Im already pretty competent in flash regarding it technicalybut alas so far all ive done is drop in hand drawn pics and edit away.
Havent the balls or a tablet to draw directly into flash, but I will soon
Planning to go headlong into getting a grasp of the figure, by plenty life drawing and all those loomis books ive dledany quick tips on quick improvement do parts or whole figures?
hey flynn,
REALLY nice to see someone actually attempting animation properly! one thing i could point out is to try and employ squash and stretch a bit more(while still keeping the same volume of the characters)
and i'm afraid i have to say your character concepts for the snake and rabbit, are pretty far from original, but i understand this is just of animations sake, so i'll let it ride this time......
i think the best pice so far is that early walk cycle that you did on ones, but try exaggerate you motions more to get a sense of weight
ps: have you got "the Animators Survival kit"? (Richard Williams) its truley a MUST have for anyone even thinking about animation, its SOOOOOOOOOOOO damn good!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you seem to love snakes!. I like your recent life drawings, i like the flow and energy of them. I would love to see more stuff like that, i doesnt look like your too far off from some really unique lifedrawings.
Thankyou both Kresh and Kronos.
Kronos, yes I do have that very book just never enough time to set aside to do the examples ><, and the characters being flat I totally agree but that was done solely because I cant draw terribly well, and well 30 secs of animation has taken up so much of my life with just the learning let alone the doing ^^.
Kresh, I chose the snake because out of all I thought it would put me head an shoulders above the rest in the class who decided to do 30 secs of a slug moving
And thanks for the life drawings, I too quite like it but todays plnned sessions went to pot because Its actually another module Im not schequled so any time I spend on it, is time away from my other programmed modules. Just arent enough hours eh
And since I spent all of today doing my friking brochure design instead of life drawing I think it only right you get to see im not slacking(im so far behind la)
So far all thats annnoying me is the amount of friking text you have to coordinate on these things >< but ill get there some day, also we have to have all the artwork vetted and ready for print (doing cmyk correctly and speccing pantones and all that crap !!)
Anyways ive done the other 2 art choices just need more Illustrations at the min its just this one.
Its made with 3 cmyk combinations and uses transparencies so it adjusts to the bg![]()

ok, just one beef with that brochure, that chicks uper lip has got to get pushed out. Its making her smile look really awkwerd.
as for the life studies. work on individual parts first. Then work on full figure drawings. Go fast and messy at first. After 30 or so studies done fast and shitty, tighten up and to a few really tight ones.
Anyways good stuff, keep up the hard work man.
The dedication is nice I look forward to all of it. Never feel forced to to life studies, just when you do them remember to enjoy what you can. I like what you have been doing, improvement comes from practice and I look forward to seeing what else you can do. Cheers, keep at it
