Good news today, Photoshop launched!
Without crashing.
I hope it will continue to launch without crashing. Else I will have to reinstall it or delete my printer or something :V
/ran out of solutions.
I do not even have Visual Studio here, else I would just debug the thing like a pro.

I laughed when I saw the plastic sheet taped to the tablet. I used to do the same thing. Taping paper to it is fun sometimes too, cuz it gives the surface a little bit of texture - thought it does wear down nibs a bit faster.

Great progress in here. Your stuff is starting to gain a confidence and personality
all those studies are paying off, so keep it up ^_^

I can totally relate to the frustration you're feeling towards choosing work over artschool. I chose work cause I needed my own place to live and now I don't have an education or a real job for that matter. (28 year old paperboy) We can all, however, still learn to become great artists on our own so keep those studies rolling.

Christoffer I wish I could fav your post haha Well I am learning for a so-called "real" job. But the problem is I do not want to do that job, I am busy with the graduation process now, which involves working at a company. I am glad to hear there are other people in the same situation... Maybe I should become paperboy, (papergirl would that be I guess :V), I mean it seems like a job where you can also do other stuff :> (read: it is not from 9 to 5).

Hey Sushi! always good to crit your work
Firstly overall, i kinda find it funny (in a good way) the difference between your digital and hand topics, and even methods haha.
the pen drawings u generally do are either random and very fluid, kinda cute characters, and ur digital a little more serious (especially in ur studies) and yet with your recent work (i dont know what CHOW) is. i assume some sort of competition, is very cartooned/clean illustrator almost Flash graphics, i wonder if u need to be studying really accurate (and boring mostly) anatomy, when you rarely seem to use it.Ok i have gone thru ALL your work.
but im just poking the bees nest a little bit, hoping that i can help u out a little

@A Faux: lolwhut almost Flash graphics? I think Flash graphics are somewhat more smooth, most of my werk isn't vector anyway. Umz well the more anatomy the better! Even if you are a cartoonist, you will have to know the rules to change them.
And ChoW is just the weekly character competition here at CA.

Nothing wrong with your ChoW, I wouldn't use dA as an indicator...
as it seems to be really random how much attention a piece gets
(also strongly depends on what time of day you submit it, if any
groups include it in their galleries... all that stuff..).
As for some critique, a small thing: the ears of the teddy bear look
somewhat flat, maybe try to color a bit more "around" the form
with your brush strokes? Especially the one which is further away.
The lighting is a bit inconsistent at some parts - most of the elements
in the image follow the light source very nicely, but at the figure in
the foreground, as well as the backgorund behind the teddy, it's not consistent.
That's only minor stuff though Overall I like it a lot! (I wish I could
muster the courage to do a ChoW or EoW as well, so scary..)

Your hamster paintings are cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!

HHHMMMMM i see progress with ur pencils and crosshatching getting tighter, your digitals are mad as always - I especially enjoy these from life. Keep doing em, maybe You'll move to traditional someday he he... I suggest to concentrate on face proportions too, that will help you with your stylized work too. Cheers!!!

Lyraina is right. dA shouldn't be used to rate your works. I have seen terriffic people with amazing skill ignored there almost enitrely. Sad, but true. So don't pay them attention
I really love your ChoW, and I agree with you. It might be one of your pieces so far!

Lyraina Thanks, yeah well it frustrates me from time to time that my work from three years ago has way more favorites than my current work. Anyway, I am glad you say so, I was afraid it all went downhill. XD

at the risk of sounding negative, I dont like it at all. I can see you spend a lot of time on this, but for me, it hurts to look at, because:
-the colors are bright and loud all over the canvas; I dont know where to look. even the draping cloth seems to want my attention.
-the creature itself has construction issues, which are accentuated by the kept linework, and creature texturing like the lines in the pants.
-issues like perspective and lighting seem to work differently for every object on the page.I cannot make head nor tails of the space represented in the picture.

dont get me wrong, I like a lot of your work, pretty much all your pens from observation, and the hamster and the samurai fish are totally cool. this piece just doesnt work for me. also, though I agree dA is not a very accurate measuring post, I believe that popular opinion can tell you a lot about your work. nuless maybe you want to be that kind of 'deep artist nobody can understand'.
