Environment design pipeline.
What does this entail? I know a lot about the character design process but almost nothing about environment design.
I do know many of the steps. Color + lighting comps, layouts, inspirational quick paintings. Thumbnails and building details.
What I'm not sure of is the process, what order do these go in? Is there something I'm missing?
I've been working on an environment design project of my own recently (I'll show what I have so far below) and I haven't gotten much feedback on it. My teachers have said "Looking good." and "You're doing everything right, but I want to argue so bring something I can argue against."
This sounds good but is infuriatingly unhelpful since I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be showing them (IE art directors) something less finished, more varied, varied but finished, or just plain absolutely technically finished.
Any ideas?
Examples of what I have so far;
All of these have been done quickly. Obviously technically lacking but I did them quickly and loose specifically because I don't know where to go and wanted to leave the option open to change anything that needed changing.
