•You're bound to stumble upon this sometime

Hey! This site is quite inspiring yet a tad intimidating and there seem to be many helpful people willing to crit so i thought I'd make my sketchbook (:
I'm 15 & I've only been drawing for just 2 1/2 years or so, so I'm still developing basic stuff because I was one of those kids who drew sparkle dogs for 2 years and then animals and now I'm finally realizing I need to learn basic stuff stuff like human anatomy and colors and ya, all that good stuff.
I don't scan stuff very often.
Anything helpful is more than welcome. Thanks for looking!

I don't post much here because I'm rather lazy when it comes to scanning >:

    Hello !

Welcome and good luck with your sketchbook !
The only crit i can give you in the moment is to draw everyday. Everytime you have free time, do some anatomy sketches and the basics throught.
Seems to be simple yeah ?

    Lets keep it up
    Cheers

each one is a 30 second sketch using pose maniacs 30 second drawing thing.
Done in Sketcher. I'll be doing more of these and do some 90 second sketches too. Along with real sketches and other art of course. I swear I didn't mean for some of the poses to look like they're grabbing asses and whatnot. I had 1 second to move my canvas and draw haha.

I really love that you draw-through and draw over.

This is truely the foundation. The next step is to go over your sketch with a darker pen or pencil and create the final lines. Toss in some value and line variation also!

    Thank you!

I may actually line them or give them some different tones in the future.

I see a lot of potential from you, but the amount of pictures uploaded isn't substantial enough to tell.

My first frog and digital painting. Any pointers on painting would be fabulous! All I have to use is SAI. I've gotta fix the placement of the feet, that I know.

There are lot of tutorials online for SAI, especially on youtube. Check it out, I've found alot of them to be really helpful.
Don't bother looking at my sketchbook. I haven't updated that thing in years. :/

    Derpyderp

A few 45 second sketches. I'll be doing 60-90 second sketches and getting more detail and darkening the lines soon I hope. I've got a painting to get done for customer and that'll take some time.
Highlights were added afterward in SAI and I wasn't really going for a real lightsource, did the colors to define stuff more I guess.

Nice anatomy sketches, the light does bring them out. The rim light on the bottom left corner of the vase is weird; with global illumination some light should bounce on the shadow too.

And yeah, I see that now that I'm looking back at the vase. The lighting was funky and where I had it wasn't the best but it was more convenient.

Some stuff is a few to only a couple months old. all older stuff though~

hi there! i would suggest you spend more time in your drawings. from reference, dont be afraid of "loosing" a couple hours in each study to really understand whats goin on in there. i guess you need that.

other then that, keep drawing! =)

nice sketchbook you have going here Aubrey
I would suggest studying up on your construction before you move into rendering or painting. Artists like Bridgmen and Loomis are great for learning about construction. There are some free PDF book you can find on the web. Read them front to back ^^ Also you can never have to many life studies! also just keep studying everything your favorite artists anything that you think looks cool to you draw it!
hopefully I could help in some way
keep it up looking forward to seeing the progression
    -Jamie
