I don't understand environments too, but I'd suggest making up some personal stories and doing some storyboarding type paintings, with environments, you don't have to draw them by memory, reference them, and other things, maybe you'll learn some new techniques.
Also, in my mind, knowledge is in line work, even if you start with masses, eventually you'll end up with lines when rendered out. So these last 2 paintings are neat and awesome in color, but you wont learn much, maybe you removed the line work, I don't know.
But great stuff, keep going.

Sounds good! I've been thinking of this little tale, but its not really focused on environments. I always do linework, but I'm not very good at it. I've also tried to lead myself away from relying on lines so much. Thanks for the critique!
Here is a study of a still from that tumblr in your SB C:

Mmmm...tasty! Dig your painterly style. The bear in #134 is quite cool and I love the cat commission above!

Thank you! C:
I really enjoyed making the bear, and I still got to paint the cat in watercolors.

i love your colors and sense of atmosphere... ur rendering skills are truly superb. however i suggest you keep pushing in terms of anatomy. cuz i find that area to be the most lacking in your work. but above all that i find your arts to be quite amazing. c:
@Elkishly
Strange, I feel p.much entirely opposite. Anatomy is my least concern at the moment, as I loathe my use of colors, value and composition lately. But thank you for the encouraging words!
And so, I've been feeling unmotivated. Everything I do seems to get me frustrated, like this thing that I left unfinished because of how flat and plastic it is!

nice updates. Loving the colors as usual. The cats look great specially the one in post 207, he has a lot of personality. I like the contrast of warm and cool colors on the last piece.
My only crit would be to work abit more on the anatomy of your characters. you make really good faces but their bodies look a bit off, for example the character in post 203, and the arms of the characters in the last piece of post 202.
Keep up the good work!
