Mitze, thanks. Though they definitely should get better. Those faces are disgusting, hehe!
But when there is no struggle, there is no progress, right?

Some digital studies, got the flu again. I'll get back onto tracks asap and work my ass off again. The Erps Kwerks Sketchbook is such a strong inspiration!

    htkpeh, thanks!

So school kept me busy, but most of the schoolwork is done. I hope to practice daily again.

Here's a study, the eyes and her nose are absolutely disproportioned again. But it was fun, yeah, it definitely was.

Nice work, I like the Bridgeman studies, that's my favorite anatomy book. Don't be afraid of the faces, that's one of the hardest things to nail, the eye is sooo used to seeing them, it can pick out the slightest error. You'll get it though.
    Keep it up!

Phew, today was my last day of school, which means that final exams will be in 3 weeks But even more important: Game of Thrones Season 2 starts on sunday!

A rather lousy update, I'll try to stick to permanent practice again.

Environment studies are so much fun. Actually though, they look all shitty when you review them after a couple of hours, hehe!

I'll just stay up earlier tomorrow, do some pencils and draw/paint more.

A study and...finally, a personal piece. Colors are flat and stiff, there's lot of things to learn. Maybe some of you could give me a couple of suggestions.

Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook. You have
some great studies in this thread. My advice would
be to harden up those edges and brushes and be
more daring when it comes to light and shadow.

Wow, the Seville study really caught my attention! Definitely push those values and play with different saturation levels, things kind of grey out. But great work! Hope to see more!

Actually, I'm crazy, looking at these a bit more, your value range is pretty damn good. Maybe just add more hue and temperature variations within your forms. Try to avoid just going up and down the value scale with a color, push it warmer and cooler also. BTW, was that an Alyssa Monk study at the beginning of your book?

Hey, thanks for visiting my humble sketchbook!
"Actually though, they look all shitty when you review them after a couple of hours, hehe!" This is something I can agree with, and not only with regard to landscape studies!
Nevertheless, I like your LS studies even though you don't go into the details much.
I wish you luck and patience,
    Cheerio!

Star Eater, thanks man. I totally agree with you, my work is very blurry and has no focal points.

CKLamb, color temperature, right? I did my homework, thanks for giving me the direction! And no, it's not Alyssa Monk. Actually, it was my gf back then - she was into photography.

Kerah, details, yeah. Definitely a problem I have to work on.

So I just finished my final exams on Friday, the orals are on 15th May. Nevertheless, I have some time to practice and prepare my application.

Starting off with a hard surface practice/study. Gotta take this whole thing to the next level, I cannot allow myself to waste anymore time.

    i like the skull studies.

i also like ur value sketches but try to use a few more values. go lighter and darker. also try to lose details on objects that are further away from the viewer, to add depth to the scene.

other than that i really like ur sb and i also can see some improvement. keep pushing it!

    W1r3d, thanks a lot!

Eric-Anthony, thank you Eric. I'll definitely focus on it since this has been mentioned before and I guess there's lot of stuff to do in this direction.

Not much for an update. Things don't work really out, I'm struggling with...everything, especially anatomy. Note: more practice.

Hey there! Definately like the mood of the digitals and the studies are getting better everytime.

The stuff I'd try to change would be: edges & face structure. It seems that most of the paintings are started with smooth soft edges , wich isn't bad, but there's a lack of hard edges overall, if you could start introducing that into your art I think the paintings would improve dramatically, adding more dept and a sense of "cleaness". The helicopter you did has more hard edges to it and is one of the best looking ones.

On the face structure and body structure Bridgeman is nice, though, for my personal taste, to better understand the face, Kevin Chen demos are just nuts! If you check that stuff out you're probably gonna digg it too.

Overall nice stuff, keep it up m8!

Icecold, thank you, I appreciate the compliment!

Engor, thanks To be hones I'm not satisfied with my drawings, there's a lot of unconfidence in lines which makes most of them unpleasent.

Christoffer, hope I will - that's what they're hopefully good for, right?

Suira, thank you for your suggestion. I use the pressure sensitive hard brush in most cases. I see your point, gotta think about it and fix that problem.

I just finished my oral exams yesterday. Looks like I'm going to have quite good results in my finals which means that I'm done with school. Though, I need to work on my application, deadline is due to 15th June - I'm going to work on it as often as possible, looks like my only chance.

I've set up my new hardware. No Diablo 3 for me, instead: digital study
Sam Carr is such a motivation. I saw his "Streaming in 5"-posts each time while I was learning and it pushed me, he has got some great enthuisiasm.

    (little chrystals drove me crazy)

CKLamb, thank you so much! You're right, there isn't much going on in here. I'm working on my application so I'll be back in about 2 weeks.

iamkennstan, I appreciate that. You know, actually it makes me angry to see the date of my first post. Basically I've started to take this thing seriously in 2012. I lost my focus and it took me more than a year to realize what I want. But I guess that's part of the improvement and I'll try to catch up the lost time.

Getting older and older, today's my 19th. So here's another study, I promise you more and better updates after I'm done with my application

ArghosRo, thank you. I really found a passion in art and I do my best to attach to it.

So here's a study - didn't to the chainmail, that would be too much work. Also, I'm struggling with environments. Hmmm, I'll have to take care of this problem.

Your determination is admirable. I'd suggest using the lasso tool to make your environments less blob-like and sharper, perhaps dropping the hard round brush would help as well. Brush bigger and keep your edges clean like in the last study, the helmet one. Work more and longer from imagination, you seem to give up on those very early unlike in your observation studies.
