with your grey scale attempts your might like to try starting with a dark tone and then paint in the light.
keep up the good work your latest piece is looking pretty cool.

lang oulk: onwards and outwards! thanks dude.
Faust: im getting quite affectionate of the colours myself :3 I SHALL
adamsimons: thanks adam, i honestly havent tried doing a greyscale like that,so appreciate the idea..im sure itll help me to take it from a different angle!

Today via matt kohr's advice ive been trying to emulate material substances in spheres- not taking a reference and cloning a section but trying to understand the values, substance etc to create a realistic representation of it. It was a crap-ton of fun and i sure learned a lot so im gonna do a load of these.

    See you later :3

Shopping is fun innit? Really like the colors in blue/pink, they feel nice, but that L-shaped arm feels a bit too far from the body (or something)

I think you need to make bigger, broader strokes. Like on that top of the hair on that portrait study, I think you could have done that with one large stroke.

Keep it up man. Good progression since the beginning.

    edit: its probably not a good thing that you found my deviant art troll account ;-;

    Very nice Will!! Very nice!

Those life drawings are really starting to pay off! Im proud of you dude
U gettin better at it! Keep pushing urself man!

Those persepctives are great excersises to! try to do some like that digitally wid colour n all.. would prolly be quite hard in the beginning but if you just look at how others did it and keep at it you will get good at that in no time

As for a point of critique..
Wheres the anatomy man :X I hope 'hampton' gives you anatomy ? trying to draw figures with the knowledge of life and persepective will only get you so far.. in some cases it is gold info to know what lies underneath that skin, especially if you run into some hard or complex pose. that anatomy knowledge kicks in, and ur able to solve the problems thrown at you.

I know i might be whining a bit to much about this.. but its important.. and i love whine..

    Anyway! Keep going strong motherlover!

Your life drawing is certainly improving. The pictures from photos aren't pushed enough - try doing some master studies and see how far they really push those contrasts.

your studies are improving greatly! Great work on the faces. Really like your latest. But I agree with Black Spot, spend some more time on shading, that will really push these over the top.

Your faces are really good. I do think you need to loosen up your lines for some of the sketches drawn from life.

    Hi matey!

thanks for the advice on my book mate It came at just the right time, I was starting to get fed up with loomis and the work was going backwards as a result, I really needed an idea to something else, anything else so I will take your sage advice my mate and do some observational still life type things.

all the best and thanks again for posting
