    WoW Commission

I'm a bit into the piece already, but I need to get it done within the month.
With that said, I'd love whatever critique I can get here ^_^
So please, if you have a comment, have at it!

note: I feel as if I should go back on some of the facial detial.
She doesn't look as youthful as I'd like anymore. Am I wrong?

Because you can see more of your brush strokes clearly in the more recent version than the original - more lines = manlier and older. Less "lines" = feminine and younger.

Obviously you can do womanly figures and faces with painterly brush strokes, but that is done with more details which are not present here, so the extra "texture" from all the visible brush strokes is making her look older and more manly. Especially on her chin there. Her breasts look unrealistic as well, breasts are typically not shaped like balloons, they tend to be droopier than that, even on a youthful woman, or elf in this case lol. Those look like they are fake, or even could be seen as manly pectoral muscles if it were not for the circular style shading on them.

Without a tight shirt (that is clearly not tight) her breasts should be further apart too. Use some nude photos for reference, you'll see what I mean, right now she looks like plastic. Flesh wont work that way.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the great notes on the face.
I suppose it's not too much to worry about.

haha, yeah. I agree with you on the breasts. But the customer specifically asked for such a thing. I guess I'll have to find a middle ground, or keep an alternate just in case he doesn't like the realistic breasts.

Lets see what that face looks like when it's smoothed out a bit.

you may want to check the way lighting falls on breasts, right now it actually looks a bit more masculine because of the shadow line

Looks like I had to ditch the initial advice for the face and go with my gut, since it wasn't working. It ended up being shape and lighting.

    AestheticMachine:
Great Observation. I Did have it shaded differently for a while there, but I changed it on request. Though, you're right. I believe the shadows should be made deeper on the bottom of the breasts to counter the harsh fall of light on the top of the breasts.

    Posting early tomorrow (i hope)

I miss a little movement with the characters. Are they friends, are they lovers? What's happening here? Any image should contain at least an idea of what is going on, what's the story, you know?

Even if is a small action, like "she is taking a pimple out of the other one's face", it is a good idea to think of what are they doing, and then put this on their movements.

Anything can give the viewer the idea you want. It'd be weird to see someone with the face to the front and arms lose in such way when he/she is touched like you said. One thing I do is thinking of the scene as in theater. Are you feeling like the characters in the scene, without noticing? Do you draw a smile and smile too? it helps a lot

As for the colors, I don't know, it's a bit soon to give out thoughts on that. I need to see more work. But keep it up.

    I hope I helped.

Now that you mention it, the guy really does seem detached. Maybe that's why he looks odd. Good note. I'll see what I can do.

Not digging the human (guy/girl?)'s posture and anatomy, its looking a little dumpy and shapeless (which is why i'm having problems with the gender).

Also, nelves have super long eyebrows that stick out past their hair

    ^_^;
It's actually sticking a little to the source material.
I tried to give the human normal anatomy before, which didn't make my client very happy.
I do still need to add the eyebrows. I've almost forgot about them. Good reminder.
Sigh, I'll just have to work a little more with the human.
