    Suggestions for new titles?

We value your input and will consider every suggestion. Feel free to email aaron at the artdepartment if you have any special leads.

    Selections will be based on:

    1. Are enough people interested in a particular topic?
    2. Is a suggested artist interested/available to teach?
    3. Will the material be new or redundant?

Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks!

i would love to see a class about rendering in pencil using hatching and crosshatching methods, in studies/thumbnails/life drawings/etc, when do to so and when not to. there probably wouldn't be much in it on the technical side but seeing someone like whit brachna or daniel garza do a few demos and talk over it would be unimaginably awesome.

Anything from Bjørn Hurri (Hurricane) would always be a pleasure! He has after all always been a CA veteran, especially in the Sketchbook section.

I would really like to see Carl Dobsky do 3 point perspective.

The pencil rendering idea sounds good too. I need to work on my pencil technique. Also, if you could show someone painting an illustration with watercolor or gouache, that would be good. I guess Sterling Hundley sort of did that, but his was more of a mixed media thing where he mixed in ink and acrylic. More videos by illustrators would be a good thing. I am more interested in illustration than in doing work for games or movies.

I'd love to see a James Gurney downloadable video.

I'd also love to see Painter given some more love. It's been a while since any downloads featuring it have been made. In an ideal world I'd love you to get Simon Dominic/BaronImpossible to do one - maybe incorporating ArtRage too.

Three point or any advanced perspective would also be welcome. I remember in college being taught to generate a perspective drawing from plan and elevation and also calculating where shadows would fall using perspective. I can still do the first bit - but the shadows method eludes my brain.

I'll give another vote for a James Gurney download. That would be awesome.

Other than that, it might be nice to have more videos concerning 3D mediums, like sculpture. Maybe something about building maquettes for reference.

This would be absolutely amazing. This would be my first choice.

I also second the one with James Gurney and I would like a longer in depth one with Greg Manchess (like the ones from Donato Giancola or Dan Dos Santos).

I also would be interested in a vid with Serge Birault aka Papa Ninja. I've never seen a video tutorial about this digital airbrush style. It's so far removed from everything I strike for that I'm sure I could get something new out of this.

    I second this, too.

    Question:
Are there any plans to release Jason Manleys Color Theory class as a Download, too? I bought the stream, but the composition Download for example was well structured and easier to watch. I would like to have the same with color theory and maybe mood&emotion,

But I am actually also still psyched about the part 2 of Andrew Jones' Fine art series.
And like every one else is saying, bring James G forth!

    Definitely agree with this.

And another vote for a James Gurney download... perhaps to support his up-coming book as badass suggested.

I would love to see a pencil rendering video from someone like Wes Burt, DanielC, Lukias, Whit or someone else with crazy pencil skills. Or a video from Dobsky about the figure drawing or cast drawing they do at the Next Gen Atelier (and the rest of his perspective series).

More Zhang Lu videos in general.

I love watching him work, and the narration about the differences between gender/race is really helpful when trying to draw a specific type of individual from your head.

So far there's been Asian Males and Caucasian females, but I think a better format from this point on would be to do it 1 Male/1 Female, ie:
African Males and Females as 1 video, 2 males 2 females. Split the video's time between 1 Male and 1 Female drawing rather than 1 whole video on 1 drawing. and that way you'd have 2 PIP screens instead of 3, so if you want to look at the other drawing it'll be easier to see.

And once you get to Asian Females and Caucasian Males you could pair them together.

Or you know, keep doing them as you've been doing them. I'll buy them all regardless.

Another idea with James Gurney would be a lecture focused on process. I think something he is particularly masterful in executing (but also teaching- in his Imaginative Realism book) is the process he goes through to create a realistic painting of an impossible/fantasy scene. Watching him actually execute the piece would be less beneficial than demonstrating the many forms of preparation he might go through for an illustration. (Thumbnails, studies, building reference models, ect.

But again, all things Gurney= awesome. ANy subject would be sweet. He seems like a really genuine art enthusiast who is willing to share his knowledge.

I agree. You should make a dvd for beginners on any topic. Environments, figure drawing, introduction to photoshop/painter, etc etc. I would buy anything that is beginner friendly.
