I need to get out of the house more often o_O

    Bah humbug.

Drew some stuff from imagination, and found that I can't blend. No studies for today.. Got to get back to work :/ It's funny how I'm totally averse to drawing when it's got the 'work' tag attached to it..

That skin tone drawing looks wrong somehow, but f*ck you cause you're drawing! Dx

I like the last one, but I don't like your tone with the last one. Neither do I like where you're going with the last one. Hope that last one is the last one of that last one.

My husband is 6'4 330Lbs and is the biggest teddy bear ever. He even drinks pina coladas it's adorable.

I thought I'd commented in here already, but apparently I just creep around your sketchbook. love your vectors in post 150- very pretty.
Keep working on the inking and stuff. The 2 things that helped my line work the most were, doing clean up in a studio (my director was a tyrant!! zoom on 1600% "why is this line not tapered!!! >.<) and drawing on the bus. After 400 hours of bus drawing, drawing at a steady desk is WAY easier!

    Happy sketching!

woah! You really rock at the those watercolors! And overall painting to boot, love it! That shiney armor is wowing me too. You mentioned your linework in my SB, and as I said you're looking pretty good right now! But one thing that helps me keep a fluid feeling is to use a lot of quick motions, this really works via digital when undo is handy hehe. Anyway, cant wait to see more!

    Iven : Thank you!

DizzySun : haha.. thank you Dizzy! yea, been trying that out.. Will need more practice though

Rhubix : haha! That is a big teddy bear you've got, I bet he looks adorable! (I'd be a midget standing next to anyone, I'm 5 feet tall :/ ) Thank you so much, Your feedback made my day! It was almost like nobody else could relate to it.. I suppose there are a lotta broken hearted people from where I come from
I had been creeping around your sketchbook too, and then the internet abandoned me for a week.. There's just something about cartoony semi realistic sketchbooks o__o And yes, bus drawing. Must try that.

    -----

So the internet connection was down all of last week.. Aand I meant to draw more but, was whiny about having no internet instead.. I did get some work done though..

You have a nice style to your drawings and you are on a nice track. What I can suggest is to get out of your comfort zone and study perspective, this will really help take your stylized drawings to the next level. Normally anatomical structures as well as any cartoon is constructed of basic shapes, learn to draw them precisely from any angle and you will be able to automatically improve your ability to create convincing character with convincing structures. Once you learn to "think" in perspective a lot of the rules will ingrain in your head so your regular doodley sketches will have a sense of three dimensional quality. You could try doing stuff off of Scott Robertson's Basic Drawing DVD as well as read up and do some practice with Norling's "Perspective Made Easy". Draw your daily objects with structure in mind and improve your sense of perspective and spacial volume, think about the ellipses in a cup and how they transform at different angles, try to analyze how books recede into space. All this will help to create a sense of 3d character to your drawings.

Your still lifes are looking really good! I need to start with those myself. I like the color pencil girl from imagination. You should probably take a scan so that its more clear. But the colors on it look good.
Sherlock sketches are pretty good. Just a little more detailing on the right places would make them instantly recognisable, but still the simple lines work here

    Now more updates please?

kamikazel33t : Thank you You're right, I've been avoiding working on backgrounds as well, but this post is a start.. More perspective on the list!

    Rubina8tor : Aw Thank you!

sin eater : And here they are! Yep, I think I'll convert that girl's drawing into vector..

    ----
A few months, pages of drawings, storyboards, backgrounds & animation. Turned out to be a still born project. I continued to work away, blissfully unaware of the company politics happening behind me, however small the team was. The work on the project ended 2 weeks back and with every passing day, I get this sinking feeling that my pay check won't reach me. Being a friend's company, there was no contract signed. It's all very disappointing. I suppose I am to be blamed as well. It sucks when people you trust do this to you.

These are some of the finished & unfinished backgrounds for the project.. I did have a good time learning & working on some backgrounds for a change (however distorted they look)..

the toon with the toilet is hilarious- and so very true.

It's great that you're throwing backgrounds into the mix - I had a hard time getting into them- and I still neglect them too much.
One of my favorite shows for backgrounds is Oban star racer - they're pretty complex but they're beautiful.
Ruby gloom has some good, simpler stuff.
and the art book for the avatar TV series has some great pencil work in it.

OH- oh and this website: animation backgrounds

    K- I'll stop now - happy sketching

Yay, lots of cool stuff to see! I totally dig those interior scenes, very sweet! Did you like, scan and paint over? Nice stuff though..

Sad to hear about your work though. Something along the same lines happened to me too.. but then again, I'm to blame.

That last comic is absolutely gross but hilarious at the same time xD You have a knack for one-liners

    Hey Sharon,

Thank you Rhubix! Those are shows I haven't heard of (it's either Animax or no anime on cable here!).. Those backgrounds are awesome alright! Thank you for the info!

Milo : Thank ye! Yep, those backgrounds were scanned and then painted over. More gross comics comin up!

Volen : Thank you! Yes work is better now, and jobs suck alright :/ Wouldn't it be awesome to be paid for personal projects..?

    Iven : Thank you!

Elboy : Thank you! Ah, I did end up getting paid, so that's one thing to be happy about ^_^ Will drop by your sketchbook soon..

    ------

Hellow peeps! Anybody still active around here? I hope this is the last site shut down for the year :/
I finally DID get my paycheck! Yay! Also working on some freelance stuff right now, so personal work takes a back seat again.

Also bought these two babies - LOVE his style. Craig Thompson.

If you're looking to buy a book of his, Blankets would be the best read.

I really enjoyed Carnet De Voyage as well.. It is a peek into the sketchbook journal of his travels through Europe and Morocco for the research of Habibi, in between book signings. Honest and thought provoking, I found this humble book a better read than the 670 page Habibi.

As for Habibi, the intricate detail in the artwork is staggering.. It's no wonder he took 6 years to create the book. Blankets and Habibi both are love stories, but as far as the narrative is concerned, Blankets had more soul in it.
As one review puts it - This is an obsessive orgy of art, set in a timeless Middle East.
