Since the first seabird looked a little too different, than the other birds, I made a second version. It more sketchy and more fitting.

Here's my entry for this year's Blizzcon 2011 fanart contest.
It seems I didnt win, but I still have this nice piece. ^^

I chose a recent game (Starcraft 2) and fancy good vs evil fight without going for the already overused main characters.

    Time for new sketches.
I was visiting the Frankfurter Book Fair with my children's book illustrations and kinmda as expected, it was too manga-ish, so I sat down and tried to adjustz my style a bit to the german market.

    Hi again,
as mentioned earlier, Im practising on my style, so I tryed to draw some characters in a kind of disney way.
Whatever you draw it widens your inner archive.

    So what is this ?
Some fencing sketches for movment and proportions and a guy who coukld be D'Artagnan...and a shady guy.

Found a nice way of character development.
Choose a celebrity or whoever looks interesting, draw him/her and work from there.
Guess who these two are ?

    school book style

    Hi again !
I know I had a break, but I had to decide for a direction I want to go.
I think Im gonna go with school book illustration, for now.
It's rather simple, but still loveable, although the outlines could be a little more sketchy to improve the dynamic, I guess.

And I totally have to find a better way to scan my sketches. Scanning in greyscale just makes it look dirty and the afterwards cleaning takes waaaay too much time.

Ok, from time to time I have tio study theorie a little more, tio improve overall. I know it's not needed for schoolbook style, but what artist would be happy with staying at schoolbook level ?

I feel like I need to get better with tones, so I just went ahead and tried to analyze two similar scenes in different conditions.
    Foggy day and sunny day.

    Here's another study.
I read a text by Andrew Loomis about tone, value and the relation of light and shadow. Loomis defined 4 properties of tone, but honestly I wasnt quite able to defferentiate them as well.
As a result I interpreted it the way I understood it and tried to illustrate it in an understandable way.

Hehe. Love your last picture. Especially the detail with the "female symbole" (Does is have a special name?). Made me laugh.

Not as far as I know. I only know, it's also the symbol for the planet venus.
The male symbol stands for mars.

You have a really nice sketchbook here. I love most of your stuff.
Of course, there are room for improvement, the Indian young man's torso is flat and shapeless, even having such clothes it should be better looking.
The naked chicks behind the chairs made me smile Nice idea and gestures.
