    Joshua Townsend's Sketchbook

Hey everyone. I'm pretty excited to be posting on these forums. I've seen some really amazing stuff around here. I also look forward to looking at everyones work (with time). All comments and criticism are highly welcomed.
Thanks for the time (and this forum).

Here's a piece I did for the 'Young Artists Among Us' exhibition in Hamilton, Ontario, along the lakeshore.

I'll definitely be posting more work soon!

*EDIT EDIT* Will do, thanks nonobot.

Pretty funky start, welcome to CA and I cant wait to check back when you got some more stuff up.
The shading on that charcter is pretty good, but I think the background and other characters lets it down a little bit.

Uhm, you are in a right section, you can post this kind of work to your sketchbook to! Nothing wrong with that, so no need to delete it. Sketchbooks are a great part of the forums, shows how you work out your stuff. So post all kinds of jazz here.

Here's a bunch of drawings I did 3 to 4 years ago. Also, a 3d model I made in a ZBrush trial (an attempt to model my room mates character design) and I marker still life I did this summer.

You sir, do some amazing work with charcoal (or graphite or whatever), that hallway piece blew me out of my boots. Such smooth shading yet they still retain their sharpness.

    Thanks all!

    Here's some quicker conte work.
I'm attempting to 'self teach' myself how to draw and paint (I do read up on it a bunch).
Having some difficulty with drawing the form of a person, but I'm sure I'll get better.

with the paint study, however the first one's face is more detailed, I'm more fond of the 2nd's one pose, it feels more comfortable in my eyes ^^The marker drawing is very good! At first I tought it was a digital painting Nice stuff you've got here, nice traditional work!

    Cheers!

i really admire your analyzation of your own work, and how you take the time to write it all down in your studies.
That's a good habit to have while painting, keep it up.
