your pencil work is improving, try to hold up the back page of the drawing so you can see the flipped side of it, it helps you notice any mistakes you have .

Oh, and holding it up to the mirror works just as fine.

Another good thing to do is practice organic shapes in a 3d form, it helps bring out the 3 perspective in drawings. I'd also do some BLIND GESTURE DRAWINGS,

stare at your reference for a lonnnngggggg time, and draw exactly how you see it WITHOUT looking your paper, it helps

for glass, i THINK you use HARD brushes to interpret the lighting of the glass ( similiar to water, yes?)

I think you did a bomb job on the stapler though, try to bring out the textures of the apples more :-o

I like your design style! like the sorcerer-man in post 317/318 I think the painted version loses something though.. but understandably you're still working on it so.. One thing I would recommend to do, if you have the time, is to occasionally try things (whether studies or imaginary..) in pure greyscale or monochrome - like Matt Kohr said, it eliminates a variable so that you can work on only a few specific things (value for one, I notice that in your imaginary paintings the lack of good value makes it seem flat sometimes) instead of 'fighting all fronts at once' Of course it's just a suggestion! I can tell from your drawings you've got some really nice ideas, just need to work on rendering them.
Oh and for your last master study .. it's looking good but maybe try using less 'fuzzy' shading - not sure if you know what I mean xD sharper confident edges, and less 'muddy/transparent' blending. Posting the original next to your master copy next time might help people give better critique too.
Hope I helped! and thanks for posting in my sb! ^_^

Hey, uhm...so crits sort of. Not really a crit but more of a tip or maybe something to watch out for. I think that when you are laying down colours you fall into the trap of thinking that you know the colour is without actually observing, that sounds harsh I know. Like the still life you posted a couple of days ago, in the picture it all has a sort of red tone...but in your version it all just looks very neutral (if that makes sense, prolly not...). And in the Skinrender copy, I think, don't know for sure but yeah, I think Dave went with a more purple-y inky black and you just went with blue.

So I guess that was a really long winded way of saying take your time and observe, you're on the right path but yeah just take it slow art's not a race and there is no shame in being slow to get it right. Good luck!

@ cloudcan Thank you for the help Im a dumbass for only using one type of brush. I must stop doing that.
@ Psychobuddy Thanks for the tip or critique ? xD Yea thanks. Color is a bitch to me. When everyone was finger painting and messing around with crayon I just drew.
@ lohes Thanks for the kind words Im sort of a perfectionist. Pretty anal about it
@ thebluepuppy xD that samurai was just for kicks. I had no design for armour what so ever .
Yay finished my characters for..... yea just characters. They aren't for a comic/game/ manga/ etc. Just characters that i wanted to draw. I don't really like the knight because it doesn't look like a girl really... idk. Enjoy

Nice work man! hen you're making poses try to tell the story through the sillhouette. You should be able to tell what's going on even if the character were totally blacked out, so when you put the knight's arm and weapon across her body it makes the image harder to read. Here's a link to a post about this. That blog actually has a lot of really cool lessons in the early post, check them all out!

    Congrats on your 4 stars!
All digital day? that sounds fun. Anyway dude, it might be a good idea to focus your anatomy studies more. Just take a day sometime and focus on studying one major mass of the body. Not one page, one day. Your goal isn't to copy George Bridgeman's drawings perfectly or to burn through sketchbook paper, it's to understand. I think a solid day of torso studies would help you understand a lot more than a few pages of various stuff twice a week.
The value stuff and characters are looking cool, just keep it up! Try to go a little darker than you usually do in your painting.
    Keep it up!

So I really didn't do much digital like I promised :/ I was pretty busy today. I tried doing environmental stuff....ughh.... I wanna punch a wall....More coming along guys.

hehe I like to see how you overcome your struggles, remember that each failure brings you closer to success, without failure you cannot get better so embrace it and laugh at it as it comes because it will be like this to the rest of your life as long as you keep pushing yourself to become better.

keep it up man dont forget to apply those studies, if your doing arms from anatomy books then spend a couple of hours after focusing on arms on characters from your head. Nice talking to ya on the stream will come back for more!
