    Sketchwork 2010 ::

    Hey! My name is Jeremiah and I'm from Montreal (Canada). I think I posted on ConceptArt years ago under a different user name, so this is my second sketchpost. I wanted to post up some sketches that have come along over the past year since I had finally set the goal to keep a regular sketchbook.

    I started making my own small 12 page concept-type journals and kept the time I'd work on these drawings to a couple of sessions (at a café before work or sometimes on break and a bit on weekends). I'm working on developing my creativity as well as improving my technique through limiting time I put into one idea.

    So these are what came up since then: some small/quick ink drawings more or less from the top of my head, I guess (sketches). Any crit or comment would be appreciated as so far, I've only shown my drawings to some friends. I'm hoping that I can also get some critical eyes as well.

    (I'll post a few at a time.) Thanks for taking a look

    Image # 2: The rabbit mask
    Image # 3: Spring elemental. I was traveling from an interview by bus and moving down the highway overlooking the waters of the St-Laurent River in Montreal and I saw this moving over the bleak grey waters.

    Image # 8: The cover to a sketchbook that I made. Inside the case on the chain, floating in the water, is a heart of embers. A masked character follows the caged burning heart into the waters.

    1) I like tribal societies
    2) I like deer antlers
    3) I was meditating one morning and I saw (left) myself floating in a river and wondered who was watching if I was in the river. (right) I tried looking towards the sky in my mind envisioned a character with eyes blocked with coins.

    Beautiful line work and the colored piece is gorgeous. I love the colors you chose. Was it colored digitally or with something else?

    Seuilxe I cannot wait to see what you do once you get into digital, so much faster, so much more freedom, and you already have such imaginative work.

    1) I attended an artist's meeting at the Montreal Pagan Society and met a lesbian shaman who made dolls. This is also inspired by a sketch from Francisco Goya's "Los Caprichos" (and other things)

    [re:hammajamma] I can't wait to get into digital painting. I imagine it would be so much easier to edit things and colour conveys so much mood.

    I'm wondering how much you can do without a tablet?

    Raphael

    So it's been about a week since I bought a tablet. Yesterday was the first time I'd had sketched something up using only the tablet and it felt pretty cool: I find it's easier to experiment (no waste of paper or materials). I made it only on one layer... for this purpose, I found that it was the most energizing.

    I got a flash of this image one day while walking to a cafe. This is always the best thing to happen since I like drawing in cafes.

    I saw a woman looking into my eyes full of wisdom and the singularity of the unconscious movement that makes up the information we try to convey through our language. The drawing is still incomplete but almost finished.
