A long time coming.

Here is my story, I drew most of my youth, but in my early twenties I stopped cold turkey, I felt I needed to focus on reality. Now in my late late thirties I realize that it was a part of me that was missing, and about a year ago I started up again. So as a part of my evolution as an artist I figured I would start a SB here.

haven't been doing much drawing...but I still doodle all the time

I like that last one, it reminds me of the cartoon "9" - and the general forms in 14 show improvement.
It'd be good to see some fundamental stuff in here, gestures / proportion / perspective studies. They'll help kick up up a notch, faster than fun stuff.

Thanks Rhubix, and yes you're right I have to become more methodical in my approach to learning. Hopefully soon I'll have the time to dedicate to getting better, and believe me I do want to get better.

Trying to draw more from observation.

Hi Paladis I don't know if this will be very help ful since I also a beginner but one thing I've found quite helpful to me doing more observational drawings was getting a small a5 sketch and trying to carry it alon with me whenever i was going to the park or whatever and doing quick little sketches of people going about their daily business.

All I can also add is that you are doing well and if you keep practicing you'll improve in no time.

Thanks Pepper, yes I've tried the sketching from life in public...I do get intimidated...people see a sketch book and it automatically draws their attention and since I'm not that good it makes me lose focus. I guess it's something I have to get over because you're right, it's something that makes you a better artist.
