Hi!

A while ago i stopped my old sketchbook and now i think it's time to start a new one I bought a new moleskine and recently i've been drawing people on the train. I will try to upload as often as possible.

Wonderful sketches. I really like that most of your faces show believable expressions (that lady reading the book really looks concentrated and the girl with the speech bubble really looks totally sad. Very well captured!)

i saw your entry in the creature of the week and i was wondering what tips you could give me on like getting that cleaner look you have to you work. Your work shows alot of understanding of lighting most things which makes your work like easy to see, and i was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.

Here's a piece i worked longer on then my usual stuff, just to trying to push my color skills. Another goal was to put in alot of details to see. I used sketchup to make a start, as sort of an experiment. I think i won;t use it again because its alot faster to make a line drawing. For a next painting i will also not do black and white first because its a pain to add colors to a black and white painting. Its also not very usefull because a b&w painting misses all the contrasts you can get with color. anyway, i added a step by step so you guys can follow my big clumsy workflow for this painting. Im not super happy with the end result but it makes up for the fact i learned alot. I am very happy how the left below area turned out.

last piece is something i did for a friend, he;s making a game based of a frysian folklore called grutte pier.

I'm currently following a workshop involving visual thinking to help companies visualize abstract processes and stuff. super awesome guys at the workshop. There was also a masterclass involving fun creature stuff and drawing a farm from different camera views.

Nice sketchbook. I see that everyone is getting these moleskin sketchbooks. What is the advantage to having one? Are they expensive?

Awesome portraits dude! I think I'd feel a bit stalker-ish drawing/watching people in such a close space, but you make it look so fun! I also really enjoy the lively way you sketch foliage, particularly the trees in that last image with the cows. Keep up the good work!

dierat: Yeah, sometimes i feel like a stalker aswell, just try not to get caught and you'll be ok. most of the time i draw people from behind so theyll never see you.

BenjaminL: Moleskine is pretty good paper in a nice cover. The paper is good for rendering, mind that you should never press hard on the paper, then its absolutely worthless. Only use soft strokes and if you want to go dark just build up alot of soft strokes. you have to have patience I dont like moleskine paper super much btw.

Vloth: thanks, it was a masterclass about drawing creatures actually, they teached to start with loose abstract doodles and then make a creature out of it. very fun indeeeed

aks9: thanks! perspective isnt difficult to understand. You just need to practice alot to get it into your system, so you dont have to think about it that much.

Wow nice! I didn't get the e-mail about the update from your last thread, so I was still checking your old thread for updates hihi but now I found it! :-)
Really great sketches, nice points of view too, I'd say that you could work on your fluidity of lines, but you seem to do that already in the moleskine book.
