CS4/5: 32bit RGB Color Mode and Digital Painting

Hi,

So, I see the option, and I have a vague understanding of what it means for digital photography, but what I do not know is whether it has any application in digital painting and effects and how, if so, one would incorporate the new capabilities into one's digital art project (i.e., what specific tools/functions one would employ to achieve a given effect).

Googling the various terms involved in the question results in a lot of technical information and articles on digital photography - nothing about CG effects and digital painting. So I just thought I'd ask here and see if anyone had anything to say on the subject or could link me to any websites with information on 32-bit color that is specific to CG effects and digital painting.

An example that actually uses 32-bit painting - textures made from one or two faint, thin, white wire shapes thrown around using the scatter brush.

One scatter brush shaped like a few superimposed wiry Y-shapes. Brush set to Linear Dodge. Image overexposure accumulated far beyond white in Photoshop 32-bits (where super-white is permitted) then the detail was retrieved by reducing exposure until all grays were back in the 0.0 to 1.0 range.
