Alone In Hell...

Okay. so here's my first actual post of my work...below is the initial rough sketch then an acrylic painting i did. When it comes down to it...i'm a really lazy painter and i get frustrated easily...so i just started throwing paint (and collaged toilet paper, gauze and coffee grind) on the canvas and all color theory etc goes out the window. It's not finished yet, but i would like some feedback and how i can improve it.

the backstory? It's "Alone in Hell..."

I'm loving this. Not sure what can be done to it for improvement... Good job, though.

thats pretty cool. heh, youll probably end up hearing it again tomorrow, but oh well. the gauze idea is awesome! it looks really cool. i think going from your sketch to your final the figure loses some intensity in the expression. i remember your original color palette was very muted, and i think you got a little too saturated with the colors here. i know its not finished, but the hanging feet at the top are such an interesting aspect of the illustration that i think you need to be sure to make those stand out more. it looks like you cropped a lot of it off in the painting, and i really liked the taller format so that you can see the feet, and it puts more weight on the girl, giving it a more desperate and hopeless feeling. i would also think about playing more with overlapping some of the bottles behind the girl. heh, that sounds like a lot, but i think its still a really good piece. what happened to that new rough you were working on, the one with all the people in it? i also really liked the one composition with the feet and toe tag, you should do that one just for yourself.

thanks for the feedback. much appreciated! I didn't realize the canvas i stretched was smaller than i what i wanted...I'm definitely going to have to rework the piece tonight. thanks again.

Hey, I like your painting, the whole throwing all kinds of stuff on the canvas is great!
One thing to watch out for is the loss of contrast in the painting from the original drawing. Everything is starting to get lighter, just something to watch out for.
I really liek the gesture of the figure you have there too. Very expressive technique and style. Good work, hope to see your finish posted soon too.

i'm liking the sketch more than the painting. don't get me wrong, i like the painting a lot, but the sketch seems to have more movement.

THis is siiick dude. Awesome emotion and colors and details. The only thing I might suggest is the nose is pretty far off from anatomical...but maybe that was your intent.
