I Totally like your new updates
The wolf-drawings are my personal faves, but OK I love animals :p

You seem to work pretty freely and fluently. I wish I could do that, I always tense up and eh!

Well... Great that you got it uploaded, and I hope to see more... someday... soon?

Btw... 90 sketchbooks, 1 per month... That'll take you 7.5 years?
Damn I bet you'll be awesome in even 2 years if you keep it up!

I should give myself such a challenge too....

    @Trix

Thanks haha, I tell myself to let go and not be to bothered about how the drawings come out, they will get better regardless, it increases line confidence and I always use a pen so it teaches me to use mistakes plus make less of them

7.5 years is far far too long, I will try for 1 a week, then one a day! if only :p

Also add the huge ones you made yourself to the list of sketchbooks

I like your update. I should definitely go and do bones too.
Did you use a book for the last one, or did you go for imagination of how the bones behave during arm movement?

Be careful you're not gonna burn yourself out in the process of filling out the sketchbooks. So far you are doing good though

Now I'll go draw and see if I can finally make myself earn the right to decently update my own sketchbook today...

@-D_art-: Hey man, thanks for dropping by and thanks for explaining my question! I'll be checking out what you suggested.

@Eternal Apprentice: Hey, I found them by accident while looking for old books on ebay, they were under sketchbook joblot, always worth a check.

@Trix: I really should, to be honest it should already be full since I made it years ago, so ashamed I think it is about 6 of the red ones combind lol I may switch them up since the red ones are half the size almost and sometimes are uncomfortable to work in :/ need to flatten them out, hills are annoying.

As for the bones, I'm drawing out a figure from ref and then attempting to add bones from memory, it is VERY tricky, damn bones, but I think it is a good way to learn, I hope.
Not doing anywhere near enough to burn myself out, won't be happy until I fall asleep drawing every night

Now update your SB I wanna see stuff! Also you're never on skype! :p

    Heya Crane!

That's a lovely stack of pristine sketchbooks. I'm looking forward to watching what awaits them.

I like the sketchbooks; Lots of stuff from reference as well as imagination. Using magazines as ref is a great idea. Experiment a bit with line direction when shading. for example, try wrapping your lines around the form to indicate the shape. You were already doing this in some of the creatures from imagination, like in post #12. Nice job on using pens, by the way. Looking forward to seeing more creatures and characters!

Great to see some anatomy studies. The forearm is really complex though. You got it mostly right, but applying it is tough. Ulna attaches to the pinky side of the hand, radius to the thumb side. When you hold your arm in front of you with the palm up, the two are more or less aligned. Twist your arm (pronation, look at the picture) and the radius 'crosses over'. You can check (and draw) using your own body. Here's another good link.
Musculature on the forearm is mostly located near the elbow and not as much near the wrist (you've done this correctly in the last drawing, its a really characteristic shape). You can feel the bones right under the skin at the wrist though, so you got loads of empty space in the latter drawing.
Using any particular reference for this? Like anatomy drawing books?

Also, do you only work digital or traditional only?

@Zou: Hey man, thanks for the welcome I plan to keep drawing until my hands are bleeding nubs and then use my feet More pictures up, just for you! don't you feel special :p

@Anthis: Hey, thanks for dropping by! Did you look at my older sketchbooks? I wasn't sure if you added the s on sketchbooks by accident and just meant this SB lol

That crit is brilliant, exactly what I was hoping for, thank you so much, really really helps
As for reference I have a very large number of photo books, anatomy books, recently picked up 37 nat geo mags for £10 on ebay, which is where most of my faces are from at the moment, the anatomy book I use most is cyclopedia anatomicae, don't know if you have it or what, very great book.
EDIT* The drawing with a lot of spare space on the wrist area is actually a rather large woman, so she really did have that amount of space in that area lol.

I actually have some pictures of my books here http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=73635, a review thread I posted but didn't really take off I did purchase 10 more books over the week too.

I draw traditional mostly as I love it, I have a tablet and artweaver (recentish purchases) but haven't really been confident enough to try it out seriously yet.

More pictures from today, not all nor are they great quality as my battery was dying so I took them quickly.

The drawings where you put the bones in them. How did you achieve that initial drawing? Pictures? Life? So far I have looked for bulk sketchbooks and I only found them on ebayUK so the shipping would be ridiculous! I will just buy cheap, plain printing paper in bulk (500 pages) and try to fill those up.

@Eternal Apprentice; The figures were from ref, old nat geo magazines mostly. Buying bulk copy paper is just as good, you can always hole punch them and put some string and make shift covers on them to keep it together, I have several like that, one has 600 sheets in it.

    More study hybrids.

Just turning studies into monsters, keeping it half from life and half from imagination.

Ohh man these sketchbooks are sexy, your magic pencils are sexxy and your latex creations, hmm maybe not sexy but very cool. I wouldn't mind having these in my room, must have for mad scientists LOL at monster-studies, try to focus on your proportions and ur skill will grow with time

    hi crane

those anatomy study are pretty good, loose and funny
but you should stick to real proportions for now
when doing anatomy study , you also practice proportions

you can also do bargue copies to practice proportions
