That piece you're revising is looking good, is it going to be in colour?
Also that tower/castle is nice, I hope you get around to posting the steps/thumbs.

    thanks Alexey.

Its amazing how drawing something in photoshop just makes some things way easier, and other things way harder. copy/paste something is nice but I think my overall sort of technique is poorer. Cant get nice line quality or anything.

Also, colouring under linework is actuallly surprisingly hard. Doing realistic colour is mega hard because the black lines just muddy everything up so much. I get the feeling pastel colours, like watercolour is the way to go. Unless your working with solid black lines and solid flat colour.

Gave up on colouring it, I gotta move on:

seems like the color-tests were totally worth it hah cause the scene turned out great !

edit:/ hey again, haha. after looking at your last beauty again; i feel like theres some more framing and atmosphere needed. (http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/v...inal5Kopie.jpg ) its just a tiny-personal-feeling-thing but i thought i share it anyways, because i really like the image and work you put into it

nice last piece - im liking the colour scheme a lot. No crits from me, although I totally get what you mean about colouring under linework. It just won't click for me but I'm sure you are right about the more pastell-y colours.

Those little castles look great too. One of them really reminds me of something I haven't seen for a long time which is jabba's palace from return of the jedi. More please!

Snobby - Great idea man, that framing looks sweet.
    Feil Magnus - Thanks bro!
Rod - I love you man xxx Thanks a lot.
Tom - Cheers, always appreciate your encouragement man.
    Aryeh - I LOVE YOU TO(O MUCH)

Some shit I got going at the moment.

Im gonna work up some Robin Hood characters. But bustin them dark and gritty Wild West style. Might be interesting. Only gonna to do 2 or 3.

Friar Tuck. Then maybe, Prince John as an evil Oil Tycoon, maybe gold or something for the times. Wanna do some kind of really shitty/horrible gold prospector. Kinda like Seth from Red Dead Redemption if youve played it.

Edit - made a few changes. Not happy with his face.

Supposed to be The Sheriff of Nottingham - based on the Disney version a little bit. I really like there characterization in that film.

Edit - Made some changes to this one too. I THINK I'm learning something here. Dunno - but I can definitely see Im making improvements to them. Hopefully for the best and Ill remember something about why.

Heh... awesome sense of humor. Can tell you have a lot to say with your pictures. I'll be watching your work.

Just a small crit, if you allow it. In this one, the castle tower is reading as flat. It's because of the light at the edges.... the right side has the same value (very light) as just inside the right side.... so it doesn't appear to recede back into space.

It's unbelievable how many bad examples there are on Google image search, but I hope this image gives you the right idea.

In other words, you *can* have light like you've shown on that tower, but it will read as 2D. In order for the tower to read as 3D you will have to "edit the light", and move the highlight to where it will better describe the form.

p sage Fucking love you man, was DEFINITELY something that picture needed. I worked it up and it looks way way better. Thanks very much for the crit, really appreciate the help.

Just something I spend a few hours today and the other day on.
Was interesting, I had some fun working on it - was nice to just start a piece from scratch and tackle it as I wanted.
Became a flat though as it went on. Found it hard to work it up while keeping fresh shapes and brush strokes etc. Im thinking that the resolution I work at plays a part - but I dont know how to deal with it.

    Anyways :

great stuff andy - I like those life drawings a lot, great linework in there.

I read that you are struggling with keeping brush marks fresh as you work up the rendering in an image. I can't really help, but I can suggest something to do. Personally I'd go through some of my favourite artists (particularly digital) and just make some notes or at least look to see how they keep their mark-making fresh. What brushstrokes retain that urgency and clean look. I often have a look at James Paick's site before I start painting, just to see what he's done recently.

Also, I'd love to see you try and use these custom shapes that are all the rage at the moment (ha I realise I couldn't have sounded more like an out-of-touch old person then if I tried). Just a thought. Oh and thanks for the great crits on my SB - I'm really gonna take that to heart and change my sb from now on. I definitely agree that after a year I'm ready to try some more imaginative work.
