I have a big problem on torso~UH~there are so many muscle meshes..........and bones...

And pray for japenese people who are suffering during the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear threat,,,feel really sad about their situation. I almost cry when i saw those professionals have to stay in nuclear plant to cool the machine or what. The news said these people might dead after 2 weeks because of long exposure to the irradiation,,,
    Please hold on...

I like those robot things in post #29, your face topology isn't a bad start, but just because it's all quads does't make it good, it's still relatively messy in terms of edgeloops are how they join together, which damages the meshflow.
I know it's necessary to use them 2 or 3 times over all but try not to get too many 5 star points together(where there's a vert with 5 edges) altho its better than a triangle when subd'd to the millions it will cause the mesh to pinch and poke out.

    keep it up.

    ._Thanks!!
^_^: Thanks for your comment! I kind of understand your perspective. I do have placed too much edge loops and I know that's not a good start now. I think it was because I don't really understand the structure and anatomy of human, so I can't creat a head in 3D more logiaclly..
How people work in 3D deal with 5 star point and trinangle? Since they kind of help me to change the mesh flow~

some practice and pencil stuff again,,,Quite busy recently so upload some stuff at FRIDAY NIGHT~

The book I am using now is Figure.Drawing:Design.and.Invention~It's quite helpful in some way. After finishing this one planing step into Vilppu's studies. Any reference recommand?

I found that it's not easy to "compose" anotomy knowlege to build up a face. And though I learn some anatomy right now it's still difficult for me to do photo study of faces with "a pencil" Working on computer is so flexible that make me stupid,,,, more pencil in future!!!

Thanks for comming to my sketchbook!! You improved so much in 2009! How did you do that? Could you share some of your ways of practice or books? Feel a little lost recently..
    Great works!
Thank you . I started art school in 2009 so I had some very good teachers pointing the way for me, so that helped a lot. I didn't have the focus to do it on my own. Honestly though, you're pretty far beyond where I was when I started, so I wouldn't worry. The best advice I can give is the most often given and the most frustrating- draw! Draw like a fiend. Draw all the time, carry your sketchbook, draw everything and everyone. Continue doing studies. There are a lot of things that someone can tell you, but it won't snap into place without practice, and if you're practicing you'll find most of those answers on your own. In other words... keep doing what you're doing .

More specific stuff- the structure studies you're doing seem to be helping a lot and you're picking things up and incorporating them into your digital work. I'd say you've got enough under your belt now that you can give Bridgeman a go without getting confused by it, get his books and copy every drawing out of them. Keep an anatomy book at hand for when the drawings don't make sense. The knowledge of structure in there is invaluable. I'd also say set up some still lifes and do a few long, extended studies, the kind you spend days on. It's important to get the hang of subtle form/value/color.

Read a lot too, everything you can get your hands on. Some blogs you should keep up with- Underpaintings, Gurney Journey, Lines and Colors, Stapleton Kearns, Illustration Art...

Anywho, hope some of that is helpful. Keep up the good work and don't feel lost, you're doing what you need to be doing already. All things take time .

hey man, i think you'd do well with caricatures, seems you're quite free with 'interpretations' of what you see

This is my first time attending art studio and learning figure drawing and anatomy. my first piece!
Fall in love with charcoal...Rally enjoy the process.

My teacher is awsome. If you are in California his syudio would be perfect if you want to learn anatomy!

    study of Adam~Not so correct...

Biggest difficuty was having correct proportion in a short time, so I would do more on full body then break into each part of the body.
