Hahaha! oh man you cracked me up with that post. By the way, I've got a joke for you too.
Do you know how you sink a Norwegian submarine? You swim down and knock on the door. Being all good-mannered and naive they'll open and go 'who's there?!'
But wait.. there's more.
Do you know how you sink a Norwegian submarine one more time? you swim down and knock on the door, cunning as they are, those Norwegians, they'll open the window and go 'Hah, we won't fall for that one again!'
Fun thing is they have the exact same version about us swedes.. to be honest I think it's the Danes that planted that joke to cause a commotion and take dominion over both countries.. but don't tell anyone about that. (It's confidential)
... LMAO!
You know, I really believe in this system that you're using of repeating the subject over and over. I used it a lot and gave good results (considering that there is a limited number of positions, and once you know all of them, that's it), but be carefull not to go to the other side. Remember what Villpu used to say: Don't copy, instead analyze the figure.
I've seen in this forum that people copy a lot the drawings of the book they're studing, but I don't get that philosophy, isn't it better to adapt it to your own constructions? I see that they do the exact same figure, but things in real life don't look like Bridgman's wouldn't it be better to get more a perspective directly on the real thing (that is btw "always at hand" for reference?
Another thing -and this is also a silly observation- shouldn't you try to construct the images that you're copying in polygons rather than linear?
I see that you're very talented and have a great determination, plus being methodical. Those three are TNT, but if you're following a method so strictly perhaps you could have some thoughts on wich may be the best method to follow.
In any case, I think that you keep in the direction that you're going and you'll hit the roof in no time, but perhaps you could arrive faster using the 3d approach, that eventualy you'll have to learn anyway.
That beign said, let me express my admiration for such a complete sb, so amicious and so beautifull and full of ideas. The onion show that you're going the right direction with colors, and some of the concept in the first page show that you have a great style and imagination. Great stuff.
Cheers.
Hey Metal Fingers, I am very stoked of your studies. I just started doing similar studies where I draw the thing I'm studying whether it's a bone or Bridgman's hand for about ten times in short time period and have found it to be extremely good way to record into my memory and start to understand the thing I am studying.
Would love to see what other kind of studies you do!
You imaginative stuff is starting to look REALLY good. Hard work is starting to reap the benefits.
Your sculptures are off the hook by the way! The design and colors of the "Lord of Change" is delicious! Very nice.
When I compare this post: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...47&postcount=8
to this:http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...2&postcount=18
it's like day and night.
I'd love to know what the hell you did in betweenbecause I'm working hard on the figure as well and any tip is welcome
I think I saw someone making a comment about short limbs? Not to rub it in but just pay attention to it. Unless that is what you are going for. If you have shorter limbs than your torso yourself it is very easy to get that into your art. I have short torso and long limbs and I notice that I get that into my art someway. When you got a good handle of the proportions then it's easy to start changing the lengths according to your design but I'm sure you are well aware of that already.
I love your work ethic and it will definitely get you far.
Will you be studying at TAD?
Also I like your clean and fluid lines.
This thread definitely came part of my "threads to fallow"! Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the hard work, I'm so happy to see the progress!
Okay, can't wait for more studies have a good one.

Hey man. Obviously a lot of hard work going on here. You are really kicking butt on those Bridgman studies.
The skateboards you painted look cool.
If you haven't already, you should check out Dave Johnson's gallery on DeviantArt. He did the Punisher cover you referenced. He's got a lot of really nice work.

yah, man, i have to say, great dedication and work. especially with the bridgman studies. similar to what lennon said, i think it's really great that you get so much mileage out of what you draw, but remember to try things in different positions from what you see in the book, and get lots of repetition on those as well. also, when someone is standing with angled hips, you have one leg higher on the page than the other. that makes the legs look stumpy, and you also (more importantly) lose the awareness of what space the character is in. for now, i would recommend that when you place the feet, you draw a line or something to mark the ground, and make sure that both feet are grounded on that line. you shouldn't have to do this forever, but it'll help you keep in mind grounding the figure in space. hope this helps, maybe i'll do a PO to visually explain what i mean. aight dude, take care, and i'll be seeing you around here. pc!!!

Whoa, Great stuff here. The sculptures are insane both well designed and painted. Your figure work has greatly improved on the second page and it looks like the digital colors are starting to get real good too. The skate boards arent bad either, it reminds me its been so long since I last skated. All the studies have also reminded me its been a while since Ive done any bridgman studies. Love all the studies , love all the hard work, just keep at it and youll be awesome in no time.

Dirty Swede- you gots funny jokes. hehe. Thanks for the kind words.
Cranberry-Thanks dude.
Jaredsalmond-Thanks man
Lennon-Thanks for the crits man, wow, I've been soaking that stuff in. Cheers.

Alright so I've been absent for a while, I've been doing a shit load of studies but don't really think they are worth posting. I will be posting the good drawings from my figure drawing class though. Anyways heres some sketch poop, character designs from an inter galactic jewel thief comic my friends and I are working on, some are reffed from fashion pictures, the other ones are drawn on campus and from my spidey venom statue. Thanks for looking and always, comments and crits would be appreciated.
off for beers. Cheers. Vibe to this.

wow, i love all the detail and variations in the armor in those last concepts!
something i keep struggling with real hard :p
Awesome, you have some fantastic linework with strong anatomy and mechanical drawing skills, particularly on armour.
Love the one armed centaur like cyborg and the dual wielding demonic alien/monster, from your most recent post.
Keep it up!
Hey Metal Fingers, I'm kind of jealous of your clean lines and details, great. It would be cool if you could color some more up?
Metal Fingers, swimming in the ocean, causing a commotion coz they are so awesome.. just don't let them touch your balls.
Cool to see you kickin' it! The first sketches seem compromised, the height to width ratio gives the feeling of dwarfs. Dunno if this is your intention, that's how they look to me. Later one's are sweet though, It's all dope!
some cool designs going on bro! I see you doing some sweet shit one daymmmmm.... nice music
hey man, thanks for dropping by!
your stuff is beutiful! keep this shit up![]()
Jesus christ. Huge improvement even over the last month. Nice stylization. I'd like to see some more traditional figure drawings-- it's something I need desperately to buckle down and do myself. Your sketchbook pages were an inspiration just from the sheer number of drawings, and the discipline involved.
My suspicion is that discipline is 99% of the equation of becoming an artist. Good ideas are, frankly, a dime a dozen. But not everyone has what it takes to sit and draw a hand in the same position 200 times.
Come to think of it, I wonder if that might not be less beneficial than doing 200 sketches of the hand in different positions, unless you are doing it as a study for some specific purpose. Doing it again and again, you might memorize it by rote so you would cease actually constructing the anatomy.
But what do I know.

Great armor/character sketches!
Love the detail in your work. I couldn't stand doing that much detail on armor lol, mechas haven't been a big of a passion for me so when I see someone who make crazy stuff like this, it blows me away.
Them Bridge studies and sketchbook spams are doing you good mate- ridiculously crazy, you art machine!
And a really, really badass Lord of Change conversion... saw it on coolminiornot (yeah, I'm also a mini nerd =P and its still impressive as ever) I have an admiration for people still sticking to painting metallics the proper way =

Hey, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment in my sketchbook
You do a lot of varied work throughout your sketchbook which is nice to see. Your lines are really nice and the figures look goodKeep it up

Let's see some heavier blacks in there. You have a pretty good value range but you'e shorting the low end. Just dabs in the centers of the deepest shadows would be great.
Also I am not nuts about a lot of the feet, particularly on the armored humans on this page. They seem to be stylized but they're stylized in a direction that I don't really care for. They look too pointy like the feet of extremely obese people.
Interesting armor stylization with the trapezoidal panel lines and projections. Reminds me a bit of dwemer artifacts from Morrowind. On the other hand you wouldn't want to get trapped into that style. Let's see some new design language.
