Same situation here, i have applied for the SF POD, and in case of a positive answer i would have to relocate from Italy, i'm also waiting for bank and contract details in order to pay with the discounted tuition option.

I'm personally interested in attending this school only if i get a POD spot, otherwise i would just reapply next time hoping for better luck,
therefore i think POD confirmation should be given ahead of any payment.
It doesn't make sense for me to pay, then ask for a spot, and in case of denial ask for a refund..

I'm sure they are overloaded with a huge amount of work, and don't have much time and people to handle it,
but i have to admit this wait is getting quite stressful and is giving me headaches ..

I understand how you both feel. My choices are the SF Pod or flying across the country to attend Ringling in Florida. We're all on the edge of our seats, hm? Don't worry, though, since everything should be answered in time.

I'd give you an aspirin if I could, marcodoom. Just take a deep breath...but don't forget to breathe out again. C: Good luck!

Me too! I e-mailed Jason asking that. I want to go to SF POD and I specified it in my application.

I also think about where we need to pay to get my seat secured.

    I´m waiting the mail answer.

It's all a bit confusing...My attendance will depend on if I got into the POD. So I'm waiting to make any big decisions until I get that info... But if I understand, we have to pay tuition without knowing we were accepted into a POD-just to potentially have a chance at a POD?
Any help would be appreciated- thanks!

Was just wondering if anyone has received any more info, whether it's through emails or by snail mail. I got my acceptance letter emailed to me but that was probably a month ago by now, just curious as to when/if we're going to get any more info about payments/classes/supplies etc. Or if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks guys, appreciate any help

Also, I'm moving in just a little under a week so I was curious about my mailing/billing information and how I could go about changing that, do I get back on the original application site or is there somewhere/someone else I need to give my new address?

    Thanks again haha!

Concerning payment, i can tell you that i have asked and hopefully will receive soon a student contract, which i think anyone would want to read before spending money.
Other than this i know they are putting hard work on the pod locations (the berkely pod is hardly been mentioned in the forum..) and have added a few other teachers..

Yeah I assumed we would receive some kind of actual paper work, contracts, whatever. I'm just really wondering what's going on since it's pretty much May now and I would like to start getting ready for classes and working them around my work schedule.

yes I'm having problems with that as well. My tuition sponsors and our country's ( South Africa ) Exchange Bureau doesn't allow me to make any payments until they've seen some official paperwork.

I agree to it though, it seems weird sending all that money off to an account on a blank email.

Some official correspondence would place TAD in a better light, and it would help us make the payments for tuition quicker and easier.. not to mention that to sponsors, looking at an email that says " hey you're in, now pay this $$ " it all seems a bit "under the counter".

All I want to do is start class and get awesome!

I have received the contract a couple of days ago, it's been a long wait...
The way the TAD deals with bureaucracy could be much better, to me it's got an "home made feel", the contract itself isn't what you would aspect from a school, luckily enough it mentions the refund policy, which i needed to know as i payed upfront to get the discount.
Anyone not knowing the famous and skillful guys behind the TAD the Massive black and the CA atelier could easily say it's one of the many internet frauds (they don't have an office phone number..)..that's what my parents and some friends still think.

Infos come in very slowly and in bits, but i do think and hope they are working hard for this school thing...

It's really a matter of trust at this point, i messed up all my life for the
TAD, we'll see what happens in july..Can't wait to move to SF and start.

    Hi everyone
I had a quick question on the start date for the 30 month online program. I thought the online classes were supposed to start June 17th, but just saw a poll in the art school section that said classes will be starting in July. I know the Kansas workshop starts in June so maybe I got confused with those dates. Could someone clarify this for me as it is really important. I won't be attending the Kansas workshops and can only attend the online school portion. Thanks a lot

also.. We are heading into mid june here.. and still NO information on school. No info on class schedules.. nothing. I kinda need all of this before hand so that I can plan my days ahead. Because I can only do the online portion and also because of the different time zones of our continents, it would be helpful to have schedules in advance....

Schedules would be nice. But seeing as I will be in Kansas City for three weeks prior to school opening, I would like to start job hunting very soon. Is there any way we can get some sort of estimated class times. I will be applying to jobs very soon and it would be very useful to have a rough guess at the times I will be in class.

    Thanks,
    -Evan

    Question for TAD

    The website says:
POD students pay a studio fee of $300 per month

Is this fee to be paid for months in which the POD is closed and/or not accessible by students? Looking at the calendar, it is clear that PODs cannot be used for the whole months of January and August, half for June and December.

    Thanks.

    Hy Guys,
    I got some more questions,
    hopefully someone will answer them

First I have to say, I would like to take part in the drawing and painting workshop. and there are still some questions.

    - Is it possible to participate in the workshops online?
    - and if it is possible to do it online, do you have to be a citizen of the USA? because I`m from Germany and would like to do it on demand.
    - why do I have to answer questions about how long I would like to stay at TAD (18-30 months) when I just want to participate in a workshop?
    - There is also a question about my social security number, but I don`t have one because I`m not a citizen of the United States?

Sorry for all these questions, but it is so important to me, to take part in the art department and its workshops.

    Thank you very much!

    Greetings from Aexys

Great! Just found class times on the art-department site under part-time classes... Although this is for Online only I imagine... looks like they start at 10AM CDT and break at 1-2Pm CDT and then start at 2PM CDT again... 6 hours a day, that means finished at 5PM CDT, for me on the other hand, living in South Africa that means get up at 6 AM head to work, clock off half day, do homework, start at 5PM, break at 8PM start at 9PM and end at 12PM Midnight! WhooHoo No sleep for princess!

    Can't wait to start though!

    Educational Discounts on Software

Hello, I read through the forum and didn't see this question posed. My apologies if it has. I was accepted into the school and due to limitations of location and wife and 3 kids I will be attending online. I was wondering if we will be eligible for educational discounts through Adobe and Corel for Photoshop cs4 and Painter 11, which is what the documentation referenced as being necessary software.

I guess I'd like to know if Zbrush and Discreet programs would fall under that as well?

Also, does anyone know if Wacom does any deals with students as I'd like to get a newer tablet as well.

I post here because I think i'll get an answer quickly than info@tad.

I'm a little bit confuse about tad online.
For simple I'm really interesting to learn entertainment design online.
But I'd want to knowthe price (for entertainment design 2D) ? It's the same as POD 30k $ ? if yes I think it's a little bit unfair to pay the same price while the pod people have much more advantages than those online.

How long it lasts (30 months as full-time art college or some workshops) ?
there was a deadline for subscription ? VLP is different from TAD online or it's the same thing ?
And about this saturday is a free session to show people how is it or or is this the beginning of the program ?
thank you guys for your answers. have a nice day.

If I'm not wrong, the pod students pay extra, the 30k is just for the online and one workshop a year.

Every semester is 6 months (again, if I'm not wrong) so it's like fast studies, a lot of hours and a workshop of 3 weeks twice a year.

VLP is like a video library. As a student of TAD you get a VLP subscription.

Every question you asked is answered somewhere in these threads or on the tad website. but I will do my best to answer some of them.

But I'd want to knowthe price (for entertainment design 2D) ? - As far as I know, TAD costs 30k up front, and 45k if you pay per month. There are various payment methods in between these two options. http://www.theartdepartment.org/payment.shtml

It's the same as POD 30k $? - Yes, The POD students pay the same tuition as everyone else but we pay $300 a month for a studio fee. So no, it does not come out to being the same cost. As far as extra? We get the same education as everyone else, but we have each other and we are in a great environment. We also have extra figure drawing a week and access to our POD leaders and we sometimes throw events where we get to mingle and meet people.

How long it lasts (30 months as full-time art college or some workshops) ? Yes the full program is 30 months long. There are optional workshops every 6 months that last 3 weeks. These supplement the online education, I highly encourage them if you have the funds to attend them.

there was a deadline for subscription? - I don't understand this question. There is a deadline to sign up for next semester.

VLP is different from TAD online or it's the same thing ? lior explained this perfectly

And about this Saturday is a free session to show people how is it or or is this the beginning of the program ? - I'm not familiar with this. Someone else will have to answer this. But if it says it's a free session, then it is probably exactly what it says. a free class that anyone can attend and see how the software operates.

thank you guys for your answers. have a nice day. - no prob man. cya

I already have the student handbook.pdf, what I'd like to know is, at what times in the first semester will he start using a wacom tablet and oils for example? And is both an eisel and tripod necessary?
