KP - wow that is so awesome painting
PmB - I know it looks blurry idk, I am using a hard brush, I think it might be because the file is super small, but idk

Alright so I am finished, well not in the sense that its awesome or anything but thats about 10 hours for ya
the poses at least the guy on the right is super stiff. The lighting isn't very consistent.

Glad to see you posting again Diarum. Nice amount of effort on that last picture!

If you haven't already, try going through the Peer project vol 2. I think it will help your digital painting and knowledge of rendering in general.

For your gestures, try to be a little more loose. Try just letting your pencil flow. Use some longer lines and really dig into the pose. Try a few pages of gestures and limit yourself to 3, or even one line. This is just to get you to make the most of a line and really nail the important line in the pose.

Well, just some suggestions mate. Keep going!

nice update you should consider studying more anatomy cause they look alittle "dwarfy". Their upper bodies are imo to short. This is most noticeable on the right dude where his shoulder is only a half arm length up from the waist.

Otherwise ur making progress so keep it up. btw how big canvas u drawing at? u know I said u need to draw big and then zoom in for details, u should work with that more to get more solid values that dont look smudgy i believe.

ur on ur way m8 just trying to help hope u appreciates it
    Cheers/ your friend PMB

looks nice, youre definitely improving. the blurriness comes from differences in brush stroke opacity (either youre using a tablet or the opacity or flow on the brush are lower then 100% which is fine since normally youre supposed to smooth it out in the end after finishing a rough sketch like this) just keep practicing mate

draw through your forms: like this :)

draw through your forms: like this

when doing your boxes, spheres and other 3d forms make sure you draw the back side in lightly as well. That way you will begin to see and draw with more volume.

    Keep it up

That yoga torso looks pretty solid.

You should try to find a life session somewhere. I don't know about Everett, but the Daniel Smith art store in Bellevue has one on Tuesdays, usually, from 4pm to 7pm. [I think it's $10. . ., hours don't really work for me!]

I'd get their number and call first, though. The guy that runs it can be a bit erratic.

Zazerzs - Thanks for the comment, I've been doing them, man those are hard lol I've spent like 10 minutes on ONE cool stuff tho, I hate when it looks wrong and I can't tell why that is. Some perspectives are a lot easier then others but some are freakin hard as a MFer ^_^
KP- Hey dude, 23 miles from my house :/ and I have no way of getting there plus strapped for cash, I need to get a job, soon....

I sleep a lot better when I draw, I think it might because it pretty mentally exhausting after a few hours. Tho some times I feel like I've spent way more time then I should have to get such little results (5 hours of drawing = 5 pages) It seem like I should have a lot more then that in 5 hours of drawing, It's weird I make sure that I stay at the table and only get up to go to the bathroom + water. It might because I am looking at the pictures before drawing and/or reading...Hmm.

I know the proportions are off by a shit ton lols, that what I get for not planing it out, it was just a doodle to see if I knew the basic shape of muscle. the Upper body is far to big compared the the lower body

LOL! 100 gestures with 30-second maximum is too much to chew, I think. :-)
I suggest to start small, with about 100 gestures at 90 seconds, then slowly wither it down to 30. ;-)
Take your time to feel the rhythms and don't rush. Speed will come naturally once you're comfortable with the stuff.

Regarding the job, maybe you can try Taco Bell or McDonald!

draw through our frorms when drawing from life as well

Don't worry about making a drawing pretty when beginning. Draw the form of the object as you know it and see it. Try like this. Then clean it up if you want to.

You are both right, thanks for posting

Now for the 100 gestures...are they shitty? Yes. Did I do them? Yes. Am I tired of gestures? Yes, for the moment. I'll do/post the 5 minutes later, will post Wensday

Focus a little more on quality over quantity. No need to rush things. Alot of drawing the figure comes from what you know sometimes more than you can see.

Add more anatomy studies if you want to draw the figure.

If you are going to draw contours draw those the same as you would on the boxes, or the cup , draw all the way around the form.

    more like this.

you arn't far off measurement wise. Proportions are close.

You are sticking to much to the outline of the shapes and forms. Draw the form in the round all the way through, don't worry about keeping it clean, or neat.

hope you don't mind another draw over, I didn't do much more than draw though the forms you had.

learn the skeleton, drawing the muscles makes more sense when you know where they attach.

    Keep at it

oh and start adding hands. the longer you put them off the more you will regret it.

Zazerzs - Thanks, I know... you right, idk why I have such a problem. I think it might because in the back of my mind its like I am doing something wrong if I don't do the contour and this leads to just a very basic construction build ( Which my scanner doesn't pick up cuz it fails lol) So from now on I think I'll get like a color pencil and do the construction that way and then do normal pencil over that so you can still see the basic construction.

well I didn't get to 50 but I got to 30. I think after a while the quality of them breaks down a lot, and then no longer becomes helpful. And I know this is a bad thing, lol I should take a break when that happens.

Looking good, Diarum. Loving the effort.

Zazers has got some great tips. Also, I think you should maybe try focusing on the negative space and angles a bit more. Focusing on the space in between the figure can really start to help you see whether certain forms should be bigger/smaller/whatever based on where the next positive space boundary is.

And really, it looks like you're getting the angles of the figures down fairly well. I'd say try analyzing these to find places where perhaps an angular line would accentuate the angle of the form. A contrast between the soft, curvy lines which you've got and more angular ones would be really nice. Even a circle made out of a few angular lines can be really great. It's just about contrast and applying whichever kind of line fits the form the best.

And definitely start working through the forms as Zazzers said. Contour lines shouldn't be about outlining the form, it's about where the edge of one form meets the edge of another. There aren't actually any lines there, so use them rather to indicate the volume and shape of forms.

Well just a few thoughts, man. Most of all just keep it up!

Remember, Vilppu says that it is the form that creates the contours, not the contours that creates the form. Where there's form and volume, there's naturally contours.

Good to see you posting more figures and starting to show some 3D drawing-through. Now, post your next wave of drawings!

    Good day,

    Finally!

    1) The tree shows some great progress in rendering.

    2) The final image is amazing, although the low quality scan don't do it justice.

    3) The 2nd gesture in the third-last picture is the best by far! You're getting there. Your gestures should look like that one!
