DUDE... u got sum serious fuckin talent goin on bro. i just started back drawing tonight, i got bored and couldnt sleep and i was lookin up some vemon pics to doodle and get my edge back. but then i saw ur work.. and im blown away, i have sumthing to work towards and try to compete with. i was woundering, if u have any spare time on ur hands.. could u email me a few step-by-step pics? just basic bodies. i havent touched a pencil in about a year, so im still gettin sum rust off.. tomorow ill post my doodle i did tonight, but if u could help get me back on my feet with just a few very simple step-bystep to making a torso.. i would greatly appreciate it. and dude, i know u might just think were messin around.. but u should seriously send some of these to marvel. i hold up thier pics to urs and u can tell ur shit is meant for comics, plus uve never taken classes.. ill mail u money to take them. i see u going places with drawing and it hurts me watching you not make shit off all of these nice ass pics. SEND IT IN OR I WILL. HELL LOVE THIS.. my mom took 5 years of classes and she even thinks ur shits amazing. she did like you, had the talent just did nothing with it.. dont be like her. but yo, props on all ur work. lookin forward to seein more and mayb posting some of my things once i get back into it.

evidence: man, believe me, i wish i was doing something in art but i just finished school and got a job as an engineer. my hearts not in it and im realizing it real quick. im hoping to start something on the side, but we'll see what happens. thanks for checking in hope to hear from you again.

purb36: MAH MAN ! lol. man i got problems, after scanning these 2 pics my scanner shitted on me. i cant seem to get it to work properly, i saw the sketches you did in the thunderdome and there pretty good bro, i wanted to put some of mine on the thread too but this scanner is crapping out on me. i think ill have purchased a new one by thursday. i hope. i think im gonna miss the deadline man, sorry about that, if so, you up on me.

drag-5: thanks for the advice bud. i really appreciate it. i agree with you in a lotta things you said. since ive basically trained myself with comic books and basically drawing off of memory cuz i dont really use reference that much(which by the way i keep telling myself i should, otherwise ill be stuck where im at forever) im having trouble mixing the comic world with the real world, but hopefully i can do that succesfully one day. thanks again.

Jae: whattup man, thanks so much, i sent ya an email, hope you got it. definately post some of your stuff yo. Thanks for lookin in.

Tigermilk: thanks man, yeah the face is kinda, ugh. i have no idea why its a pig. im muslim and we dont even eat ham or pork. lol. but thanks for looking and ill hope to hear from you again.

anyways here some stuff i did at work and im pretty pissed right now cuz my scanner is , well......i guess busted. gotta buy a new one and i think ill have it by thursday. anyways, heres whassup. . . . .

    once again, good stuff man.

for the sword guard (the disc-shaped thing between the handle and the blade), on a standard sword it would cover the area from the first knuckle of the index finger to the first knuckle of the thumb. dont know if it was meant to be smaller or larger or standard or whatever; just lettin you know.

    4th quarter; check up.

It's called a "hilt", and it varies between swords. Some swords similar to this one have no hilt whatsoever.

Anyway, Sajad, I still maintain that this is great work, but my only problem with it is that the figures are too static, and when they are more dynamic, the poses still seem a little canned.

I'm aware that you're not an art student per se, but I think that a figure drawing class would be serve you well, but pending that, the book dynamic anatomy would likely give you a lot more diversity in your poses.

Also, some of this stuff would be great to see colored.

All in all, just wanted to say keep up the good work.

Your sketchbook is a lot of fun. I like the imaginative bits you throw in. Do you find that you study directly out of comic books most often?

Now, for a bit more constructive comments, since last night I was just in awe.

I really like your pencilwork. I'm not entirely sure how 'proper' it is given the field (and inking that follows) - there are many shades of gray all evenly filled - but I like it.

I also like your general anatomy - i.e. well formed, buff muscles, but not overdone with bulging veins, etc. However, if there is one nitpick to be said, it is the size of the chests in some shots (mostly the front ones, like the shadowed batman doodle) - they are huge, and somehow don't entirely fit with the rest of their bodies.

But it's just a nitpick, and only in some pictures. I'll definitely keep an eye out for this thread, keep drawing!

Awesome man. I have always checked out your stuff in this thread. You really make me want to draw more.

The only comment that I can think of that would be helpful to you in general is, try more variety. Different styles and subjects. It helps I hear.

    Geezer,

Very cool style you got going on here. If I were you I'd go for it and send some to the major publishers.

As for crits I've checked almost your whole thread and I noticed that you almost never draw a person standing on his feet (or in full lenght)
A lot of times you just stop at the knees or make 'em stand in water. Why's that? You talented enough to overcome this.

Anyways, I really enjoyed your thread and man do you post often!

Billy definately you have the talent to overcome that no foot thing..lol. It's a bad habit for me to I use to always draw clenching fist to hide drawing actual hands. Sorry I haven't been posting here, but I've always check your updates. I was going to send you those comic book boards, but it got lost during my move, and thought I still had them, but that site I gave ya awhile back, you should be able to order from em. Start doing some panels and start submitting em. Get some finished looking piece done and put them on the website, let me know if you need help with that. Anyways keep doing your thang.

Hey, you got great style there, especially nice with proportions and anatomy.

But there's a flaw, you've became a bit repeative and there's nothing really "new" to expect. I'd like to see you draw something totally new for yourself, do something that's totally original and that's never been done before.

You got the skill, now get to your full potential

I quess joining into the daily sketch group could widen your selection of drawings a quite.

Your pencils are amazing. Great line work. I'm still trying to improve my line and rendering. It's funny because when I first started to sketch people I started with imitating Jim Lee and the X-Men. You did a way beter job of sketching super heroes than I did. Keep posting your work. I'll be checking back.

    Hey Sajad,

    [QUOTE=sajad126] comic art is just more fun if you keep it somewhat cartoony. . . if you dont, its not comic art. }

Okay so I am wondering what you think of guys like Alex Ross?? his art is not really cartoony...do you consider what Alex Ross Does as Comic art??

Oh and also...earlier a guy asked you if you could draw The Hulk vs The Juggernaut.
I was wondering if you could draw a pic of THe Joker???

Incase you don't know who Alex Ross is....

majofo: whats up bud? yeah man alex ross is the man, i love his books "marvels"? hes more of an amazing painter who does comic book chartacters. know what i mean? he brings a serious tone to each character. i love the guy, his sketches and colored pieces are amazing. you have to consider him a comis book artist becuase he does comic books, but if he wasnt drawing superheroes, you wouldnt know he was a comic book artist. the guy is freakin amazing though. but you know what? mayB its just that, he found that this style works perfect for his audience? mayB people are getting tired of the cartoony characters and want to see the heroes in more serious forms. . .. i dunno, good point though bro. take care.

For me Alex Ross's art kind of makes me feel like it's real. The way it looks and all makes it very easy for me to imagine it actually happening somewhere. It's Super cool. I know a lot of people that don't like the cartoony look in comics..I think the best kind of comic art is the kind that's more realistic but with a cartoony touch to it rather then cartoony all the way. Like Ed McGuiness..his arts cool but it's far to cartoony for my tastes.

anyways...talk to you later..as ever your art is top notch.

purb: lol, you knwo it bro, good idea with the thunderdome man ! cant wait to get at it yo.

anyways, just some doodles i run back at everynow and then at work, i prolly wont ever touch these again.. . . the last one is actually on a divider. . . lol

pencilator : hey man yeah he is kinda big and his head actually is freakishly small after reading FLCL00 's post. . . how the hell did i miss that?! thanks again for the company bud.

projkt : thanks for checking in . . .good to hear someone else who loves comics like me hmm. how long on a drawing? well, i draw rather quickly and dont pace myself which i should. which probably is why i dont have much finish pieces. i gotta shake that habit along with many others.

FLCL00 : hey thanks man ! ! yeah his head is small. . . i seriousely dont know how i missed that!?

havent had time to actually draw a lot lately. wish i did. i was looking for a folder to take to work and found this binder that had some drawings from like 99 i think. anyways, they brought back some memories cuz i remember drawing some of these while in class, hahaha. . ..lol. .. here they are. . .

hey dude, i just wanted to say again how i love all the care you give to these drawings.

love the wildc.a.t.s. warblade that you drew; on that same page though, the guy on the bottom right...his left arm (right side on the screen) is really messed up. the way the shoulder is pointing, we should be seeing more downward on the arm. it looks fine at first glance, but i you really look at it, it kinda looks like its broken.
keep it up with the good art man; g'luck with work and stuff. see you in the dome. and oh, it was actually 2.5 weeks...one week rest and then one and a half weeks to work on your vision of beauty.
    happy hunting.

edit: oh, and the last guy with the gun, his face looks a little flat. i think the eye on the left (his right eye) lookes like it's too far back in his head, which flattens the face.

    i crit because i care.

Looky : heres that pic of subzero I was talking about. hope it helps.. ... I saw someone try and do a sculpture of it when i was in junior high, it was pretty cool, cuz the spine from the head was made from like string with rocks as the lil pieces of bone. . . anyways, i thought it was pretty neat. . . . hope it helps. . ..actually now that i think about it, its probably not something you would like cuz you like doing creatures and stuff right? If thats the case, theres a charcter called Goro from the same game, hes got 4 arms and hes freaking huge dude, he would make a pretty good piece i think. . . . anyways, here you go man. keep on with them cool as sculptures !

Wattap Billy, it's always good to see your updates. Haven't been here for awhile, Started a new job 2 weeks ago siding houses, so I really haven't time to draw anything. Just wanted to say wassup and keep doing your thing, try and get some comic panels going, you definately need to get that comic book career going.

hey sajad....very nice...i really like the fantastic four drawing. I've seen Batman, too. And i was really satisfied, it is going back to the roots.....more black and more dark. I really didn't like that techno colored part 3 and 4. they sucked a lot. But the new one is great. Just as your art
