It's no secret that a super being you are becoming here.
The postman just rung, we should not summon the evil,
cause no one will call the priest. You have squeezed out some
oily substance from a mature, ripe grinded semi breeded tomato.
Those life drawing environment will make you get even more stronger.
The principal can not harm you any more, he can call his solicitor,
or he can go banzai directly out the window.
The last character is a true beauty, but it has kind of a strange
stance, and the shoulders a bit incorrect anatomically. We are
nor sure what is he doing, cause his hand is strangely behind his neck.
Other than that you delivered a great shot to the morning world of art.
You just do it more often and more harder and nothing can go wrong.

LtPlissken Oh god. Plissken I really really missed your posts. These are just awesome! Do you write them on your own or are they mixed with some quotes? Thanks dude!

    --------------------------------------

    Sup, uhhm yes.
    Hello you, you and YOU!

No updates for yesterday because I had a conflict with my mum about art and it made me kind of depressed so I just didn't to anything.
But here's my stuff for today again.

The portrait from imagination was kind of fun. The first time i used this "blender" tool for pencil. But I don't like it that much. Makes everything too smooth and the pencil texture get's lost

After that some gestures (fu** yeah, finally doing them again! ), misc stuff about my lines and ladies from reference.

    Cheers!
    Sil

Good stuff Two things, first focus the studies towards the imagination stuff. Like if you were going to do a portrait from imagination then you should have done 20 2 minute faces and then some longer portrait study. Or with these studies you could have done a figure. You'll just benefit more from it that way

Secondly I am seeing one major issue in all the work; proportions. Loomis studies and then use that for the figures and some loomis construction would REALLY help out with the imagination portrait

Edit: did a super quick draw over

    Keep going!

Usually I do not quote things, but when I quote them, then I make a note
about it. But the last time I was here, I was listening to this,
so I guess yous should increase the volume on your devices to the
    max an play it hard;

    Hey Sil ^_^
I had a conflict with my mum about art and it made me kind of depressed so I just didn't to anything.
    I totally understand you...
"Why do you always have to do such strange drawings? Why can't you just learn anything NORMAL as all the others do? There's no money in arts..blablabla"
I tell you, in the end it is your life and your own responsibility. So don't give up or believe in the words of people telling you you're not good enough.

Your last gesture studies are really good, you should do moooore!
    Rock it.

Hey Sil, sorry to hear you had an argument with your mother. I think parents raise children with dreams of there own of what they will do. "Oh my son's going to be the next president and save the world from aliens I just know it!" "WHAT?!?" "You liek drawing?" "What about my dream for you D:"

Anyways just a few thoughts on where your mom's coming from just keep at it! Show her your really into this stuff!

Nibras Thanks for the overpaint. Some really good points, especially the neck, as I already told you. Cause we talked over skype, nothing more to say Just thanks!

LtPlissken Not exactly my taste of music, but nice way to create these comments, hehe! Thanks for stopping by my friend

Arti Artiiiiii Exactly as you described it, but my mum is only against this dark fantasy stuff. For art in gerneral, there is no problem. So I am going to avoid showing her the stuff she wouldn't like ;P
    Thanks for stopping by.
    Good luck with your exams!

Alex Eh I am happy that it's not that extreme. Art in general seems alright. So I just have to avoid the stuff she doesn't like, hehe!
    Thanks man!

    ---------------------------------

Again a little bit in hurry.
More of the 90 seconds gestures and again a portrait from imagination.
Looks not as good as I hoped.
I need to do some more studies and then really apply them.

But overall I can't wait to do more. Thanks to my "art buddy" Nibras, my motivation to draw increased a lot.

    Cheers!

Awwww you're cute Can't wait to see how far you'll go man!
Gestures are good, I know from experience that they help in a subconscious way. I think to make them even more useful pay attention to proportions and use them as a way to break down forms, so more cylindrical shapes for arms etc
The face looks better, remember you can't expect to jump to a different level from one day to another! Give it a week but I can already see an improvement.

Yay, great to see you did some moooore gestures! I personally really like most of them, you did very well.

By the way, the exams won't stop me from stopping by. However, they stop me from drawing and that's the worst problem...
(and my hand hurts so much qq)

    Back to topic:
I may be mistaken, but the man's nose seems to be slightly too big. :>

Nibras Thanks my dear! I will keep going with the 90 seconds gestures because they just help me to build up a bigger pose library in my head.
If I get the time I will try to break figures down into forms, but then with no time limit.
    I will keep working, definitely!

Arti Learn Artiii, leeeeeeearn! You're right about the nose. The nose AND the eyes are too big. Try to fix that in my next portrait.
    Thanks Arti!

Am I in hurry, am I in hurry?
Don't know, but these days seem way too short.
Learned like the whole day for a test in school tomorrow.
And on Thursday there is aleady another test waitiing for me.
Goood, why do you do such cruel things to me?

    Anyway, enough crying. ;P
Gestures from this morning and a character sketch from school. Took me 3/4 hours, quite long.

Lukas Hows it been!? We should totally chat more on skype !

-crit, basically what everyone has say before, those proportions. The character on post #625, his arms aren't the same proportions. The character is really flat it seems, KChen does a good job of form.

ven- Thanks ven! Thanks for the link. I alread knew it, but lost the link when I wanted to take a look at it.
Going to look at some examples from him. I agree that I definitely need to work on the three dimensional form more.

    Alex Eh Thanks man!

    -------------------------

During the last few days there was sooo much stuff for school that had to be done, so I didn't get the time to draw.
Just tried to focus on the tests in school.
Next week, Tuesday, all tests are over and I can concentrate on my art again.

But because I can't paint NOTHING, here's a WIP of a painting I started working on this evening.
Going to pick some references when I am working on it the next time.

    Greetings,

Going to pick up some more references next time I work on it.

Great to see you're at a good speed with the studies and pushing yourself! The colors on that last one look really sweet, great use of warm and cool colors to make the city capture attention and look adorable!

Good job with the anatomy studies and gestures! Some of the gestures have good rhythm and balance but the more finished figures tend to look a bit stiff. Try to study how the hips and torso are positioned when weight is carried on one foot. You also seem to draw the limbs very straight. The bones and positioning of muscles makes them look a bit curved from most ankles (the shins especially), remembering this would make the figures look natural and interesting. At least Burne Hogarth described this in one of his books, I don't remember which but you can learn a lot by just looking up his drawings.

    Keep up the good work!

smuli Thanks smuli! Glad you like the colors on the last painting. I know that I really need to push my anatomy more. Anatomy is definitely one of my weakest points when it comes to figures.

    -----------------------------------

    Hey all!
Sorry that I didn't update the last 7 days.
Last thursday I did a 10 hour marathon (drawing & painting) with a friend. I didn't get as much done as I wanted to, but overall it was a nice experience to work the full 10 hours.
BUUUT there was one big problem.
After thursday I lost my motivation, haha! <.<

And right now, there is also a good friend from Berlin here, so I don't get time (and motivation) to draw.
I hope that I get my ass up again to work at least in my free time, when my friend isn't here.

    Stuff from below:
    - studies from Hampton
    - digital speedy when my marathon started and fu**ed up still-life when it was over...
    - speed paintings ( 30 & 20 minutes)

    Sup!
    Great to be back.

    - Heads from imagination, first one sucks...

I have to agree with Arti Your last 3 enviros has a nice atmosphere. At least I like them. Especially the last one though I find the bottom light overpowering and the sky a bit too dark behind the witches (I see the shines but still). Probably the composition could be better and so on, but it's not an elaborated masterpiece, just a lovely quick painting. I like the colors.
