Hope your mom's ok Silwynar, glad to see you doing some art everyday! Don't pressure yourself into thinking have have to force yourself to draw, just do it purely because you want to! Art has to be kept close to your heart and fun =)

    Sickbrush Thanks Chris. You too!

FightingSeraph Hey! Glad to see you still alive on the forums too. Thanks!

Alex Eh Yup she's fine so far Alex. Now it's just a matter of time.

    --------------------------------------------

Finished my study from the stream of yesterday and I liked it so much that I just though about posting it right now.

In my opinion it's a huge step toward because I finally made it able to make my painting DON'T look cartoony / comic.
I applied everything Faust and Zombietooth taught me during my streams so I am quite happy with the result.

    Greetings!

Hey Lukas, Make sure you are keeping everything relative. Some of the details are off, like the crack isn't close enough to the eye.The eye brow? above the eye is the wrong spot and miss shaped. Another then that looks freakin awesome, keep it up dude!

    Happy new year everyone!

I am so happy for all the support you all gave me during 2011!
It was definitely a crazy year with many ups and downs, but everytime all of you were there again to help me get up.
The flow to draw and paint everyday is there and it's like somebody pressed a button inside me.
I am not living anymore for getting an concept artist someday...
I am living just to draw every damn day with joy.

2012 is going to be an even better year with all you guys.
I hope some of you will be with me when streaming and giving me critiques and all that stuff.
I just want to kick off the show this year!

    Special thanks go to...
...my lovely ConceptArt skype group which is AWESOME!
There are so many information and fun inside this group.
...sickbrush (it's a shame that i met you that late) who keeps my motivation bar up and up with all his crazy stuff! Thanks dude!
...~faust~ who kicks my ass everytime we chat. But I enjoy our talks and your critique. Thanks!
...rama looke - Don't know why but i want your name to be here!
...all others who supported me and are not listed here!

    So yeah!
Thanks again and watch out for my new update on 2nd Jan.
    Greetings,
    Silwynar

PS: Just everything I drew or painted around the last time. I just wanted to get rid of it before my journey starts.

Compare this portrait study with the first ones you posted here. It seems you have a lot more control over your lines now as they don't look as random as they did around the time of your first post.
Lips coming out nice (Nemesis, arrrgh!)
My advice would be to practice line flow, so your drawings and painting don't look so stiff. Maybe you could fill a lot of A4 or A3 sized sheets of paper with loose lines before drawing gestures.

Keep it up and good luck for 2012!

    Haha!
    Failed day.
Spend like the half day with driving into the next city with my dad because his printer went dead with a decent error.
    R.I.P. Printer... ;__;
    L.I.P. NEW printer!

Just took me a half century with my dad. But I spend time with him so it's okay

The rest of the day I needed to finish this linoprint / linocut for school.
I don't really like art in normal school. Things that are useless and just for getting grades.
    Nah, anyways.
    Here it is.
    TOPIC: Carpe Diem

    Cheers!

PS: Forgot to tell that we are going to print it in school. I don't have the print here to do it.

EDIT: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! New page with this piece of shit. DAMN IT! <.<

shiNIN Thank you so much! Also noticed this by myself but didn't realize how I could fix that without paying too much time in the gesture.
Always a pleasure to see you here. You're welcome! ^.^

    ------------------------------------

New personal piece I created today.
That's all, but at least I FINALLY got a goood friend of mine to some art stuff.
I showed him a few basics with "Blender" and he got addicted.
At least i hope that he got addicted
While he was trying out I painted this one...

Perhaps I am going to put color on it, but right now I will call it finished.

Draw the structure, not just what you see. Don't be hesitant with your lines. If you think it is not good: (a) draw another, (b) http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=135551.

pixel cheetah Thanks! I am always trying but to get the structure and form is harder than i though. I think I just need to keep practicing.

    ---------------------------

Not so happy with these days. Didn't get as nearly as much done as I would have wished.

At least I was able to get a small grasp of the anatomy of the arm.
I will keep working on that because I need to fix my anatomy that much!

Beside of that I had to paint a quick painting idea for my art class in school.
The topic was how the world will be in like 50 years.
Imo the different layers of people will be even stronger because not everybody will be able to grow with the fast technology.
So slums will grow and there will be the very poor and the ones who could keep going with technology.
I hope the painting was not too dark and fantasy like for my teacher.
I don't have the motivation to do antother one for school...
    !!! It's still a WIP / Quick idea !!!

    Greetings,
    Sil

Slums don't look as clean and structured as they do in your painting. Type "slum" in a Google image search and you will have tons of reference material. People build shacks to have something they can live in (and they don't build them in one straight line), everything looks deteriorated and messy. And there is little to no space whereas you have a rather open area and one person walking around like a wanderer. It looks more like an abandoned place than a slum.
Besides... I first thought that was a lamp pole sticking out of the vanishing point. But it's meant to be a city, right? Slums are often formed right next to a city, not far away, so maybe you want to think about that too.

Arm studies are looking great, your lines really develop Keep it up!

-Marin- Thanks Marin With the slum you're right. But I want straight streets going out of the city.

    -----------------------------------

Fixed a few things, like the "city", as Marin said.
Also I am trying to make it look more messy and full of life.
Going to add more people in it.

Also deleted these damn textures I added. Meeeh, that was cheating.

that ship on the right side of the painting REALLY catches the eye. Not sure what to focal point is suppose to be I assume either the guy or the city but neither really catches my eye, there are way to many of the same light lights, it fights for my attention. Hope that helps

Diarum Thanks! Of course it did help! Also thanks for the tips via skype. Very helpful!

    --------------------------------

    Sup, finished the piece.
Two versions, black & white and lightly toned colored one.
My teacher in school can chose by herself.
Most people I asked this evening were for the colored version, but not all.

Tomorrow I'll do some anatomy again. Enough personal piece for the next few days.

hey, time for some updates! Seems like your year started good, so don't stop kicking asses at the end of the first month!
it's good to see you doing the anatomy studies and use 3D shapes for the figure drawings.
I think, the girl you painted in #573 looks better than the figures you have drawn in december. Use some reference to get the shapes better though. But she's reminding me of Morrigan from Dragon age, coincidence or wanted?

Well, hope you will update soon to make 2012 your year

Valyavande Thanks my dear! Sorry because I didn't get to talk to you for such a long time now. Gonna try to catch you up on ICQ this weekend. And the girl was definitely inspired by Morrigan. I searched for some armor / cloth reference and then Morrign's clothing came to my mind. Perfect! Hope it isn't toooo inspired

Diarum Read below. But thanks for stopping by and caring about me ;>

    ----------------------

Just as Diarum said: "It's been a while."
It's not like I would have been lazy in january.
I didn't get the time to update and I had to set a few things in reallife.
A lot of my paintings went to print because a few are now for challanges and others are for my portfolio.
This monday I am going to the "HBK Saarbrücken" - a school for design with my high school art class.
    Some kind of excursion.
My teacher was also able to get one of the prof's to a portfolio review for some pupils.
And I am one of them, sooo:
I needed to get a real portfolio which I can show him on monday.

Next update I will show you a few picture of my portfolio. Such a niiiice black leathered book.
Definitely awesome and also inspiring to keep going.

Beside of that I did a lot of stuff in my sketchbooks.
Studied the hell out of the arm to get the muscles in my mind and all this stuff.

    So yup.
Stay tuned and I am still alive ;P

    Cheers!

I did a paintover, because I was bored and
I had nothing to do, really. Of course this is
not...a whole lot, considering it took about
20 minutes, but you can hopefully see some
    differences.

Firstly, I had to paint over some things, like
the clothes-lines, since they didn't quite
make sense, and they were obstructing the
    view.

I repainted some stuff, very quickly.

and lastly, but more importantly, I used a
couple overlay layers to kick in some colors
and contrast into that painting. It was
waaaaayyyy too desaturated, and this is
something you need to keep in mind in the
future, because that is all that separates
your painting from something that is at least
kinda professional. This was a common
problem a couple years ago in my paintings
    as well.

Bottom line: more studies, just a heck of a
lot more of them. In a year you'll be
very good. Just keep on going and good luck.
Look up a lot of material, and you'll be just fine.
    Have a nice day

I also have the worst humor imaginable, but that's beside the point.

Maybe you should take a look? Or not. Just if you want to - If that's your thing.
