Hello everyone! I’m new here, though I’ve been lurking for a while, and I wanted to start my own sketchbook to hopefully get some feedback on my work that will help me improve my work.

Currently I’m an animation/illustration major at San Jose State University in California. I hope to eventually work in the industry as a visual development artist or maybe work in colour keys if I can get my colour theory worked out properly.

I’m really glad these forums exist, and to be honest I’m a little bit intimidated by all the talented artists here, but I hope I can get some feedback that will help me improve! (:

I had a lot of free time today, but had no idea what to draw so I grabbed the closest thing I liked visually and tried to render it.
Approx 3 hours and an egg salad sandwich later.

Nice pencil, personally I would have gone for a tuna sandwich- but I think the egg one worked out for you.
The first 2 posts give the suggestion that there will be more cartoons in here in the future- I look forward to seeing those

Freehand, lol. Except for the black boarder around it. I think rulers can get a bit clunky/tedious to use.

I re-watched an animation I really like -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9Z061jNxYE and I just really wanted to try and speed paint something afterwards lol.
Trying to get my faces to feel more like...idk...faces? lol About 3-3.5 hours.

Recently I signed up for a colour workshop being taught by one of my favourite past professors, Cameron Chun! - http://pthaloblue.com/
For the first session we did still life, it was my first time trying to paint something this complicated, but it was a really fun challenge.
I need to focus more on keeping my values from looking too similar, and making sure my whites have a temperature and don't compete with one another.
Also if anyone is wondering what is on the mannequin it's a Darth Vader helmet, lol.
About 3.5 hours.

I noticed my faces have a really bad tendency to feel/look very "hard", so I'm trying to soften them up more.
