Looks good to me!
If it were me, I'd work out the actual mechanics (hinge, ball-and-socket, whatever) for the hips and pelvis--what you have there now does not look very convincing. That done, I'd go ahead and build out the sketch and see how it works.
I agree with Giacomo about the hips. You might want to put a bit more substance to that area overall. On the side profile, his stance is leaning a little too far back; mind your center of gravity.
On the design, some things really jump out at me: With the way the knees are, the legs would never be able to fully straighten, and likewise with the arms. The forearms also seem to be connected to the elbow a little too far up, judging by the side view; when that turns, his arm will become almost a T-shape. The spikyness of the head is cool on its own -- It almost resembles a straw hat and bandana, which is nice -- it doesn't mesh as well as it could with the rounded body. Maybe rounding out the bottom half could help?
Thank you both very much for your suggestions. I've incorporated all of your suggestions, except for Tangleworm's suggestion about rounding the head. The character is being based off of a painting I did quite a while ago, and I'm trying to maintain at least most of the appearance of the original character. I've attached my second iteration of this model sheet and the original painting to see what you all think. Thanks again in advance!! You're all great.![]()
Hi, first of all, this is a great model and ilustration,
I was wondering if I could use it to create a 3D model, as I'm learning 3D modeling in Blender. It would be only ofr educational purposes of course, and wouldn't be published in forums or anything (perhaps only in my G+ account).
If you allow me to use the art concept, how should I credit you for it? name and email? or perhaps a website?
Thanks in advance, I hope you don't take this as an attempt to use wrong your material.
David.
God dammit davinchi, I just wasted a good 5 minutes writing up a critique for this guy until I looked at the date. You should have, because you would have realized that this thread is almost 2 years old. Try to send this guy a private message on the site.
lol so this thread has been revived twice now haha
