Here is the unveiling of the apple IPad some cool stuff in it, but most importantly i think is that you might be able to digitally paint with it anywhere you go.

yay it does art. I was afraid it wouldn't come with a pen and function like a big iphone.

Thats the thing though, they haven't really announced if it came with a pen or not. So i'm not sure if its a finger painting program or what. Anyways it's looking pretty sweet personally.
Its about damn time someone made a thread about this.
Looks pretty awesome, but im pretty sure it isn't pressure sensitive which would have made it an amazing drawing tool. Regardless, it still seems like a great tool for doing some studies in nature via a souped up finger painting program. I'll probably get it.

I hope you don't need to sign a contract with AT&T. But it looks like it's going to be $500. AT&T and no wacom would be a deal breaker though. I might hold my breath for the Microsft Courier
Waiting to find out more info, other wise i'll wait for the HP Slate:

I though this was some sort of April Fool's joke. I can't believe Apple would release something called an iPAD. The jokes alone boggle the mind.
Am I the only one that is really disappointed in this? It's basically a giant iphone, without the phone. I mean, brushes is cool and all, but it can't be used as a serious art tool. Pressure sensitivity is the big breaker for me. I feel this could have been so much more... and cater to real new markets and users. As it is it looks like Apple is just catering to their built-in market.
meh.

yeah, im kind of thinking the same thing. I might...might get it, but the courier i'm pretty sure has pressure sensitivity. The only downside of the courier is the split screen, but the might add a model thats similar to the iPad, we'll have to wait and see.
Info from Engadget.com, details on pricing of the iPad:
16 GB iPad with wifi - 499$
32 GB iPad with wifi - 599$
64 GB iPad with wifi - 699$
16 GB iPad with wifi & 3G - 629$
32 GB iPad with wifi & 3G - 729$
64 GB iPad with wifi & 3G - 829$

An "Ipod" with a boston accent....
I think the split screen on the courier is an awesome feature, especially for art. It's like having two monitors.yeah, im kind of thinking the same thing. I might...might get it, but the courier i'm pretty sure has pressure sensitivity. The only downside of the courier is the split screen, but the might add a model thats similar to the iPad, we'll have to wait and see.
Why would you need pressure sensitivity on a capacitive screen.
I thought the whole point was that it sensed the actual size and deformation of what you where painting with just like a real brush?
Or are these screens not sensitive enough to make that practical yet?
This looks cool, but what is the point of it? It's an iPhone on steroids, but it's too big to carry around with you on daily routines, and it's not big enough to sit with at home when you could be using an actual computer. I don't really see how this is going to catch on.
If it had full pressure sensitivity, I'd be all over this. As it stands... meh. I can't stand to draw on my iphone because of that, but find my DS a fun little tool for studies, despite the smaller, lower quality screen.
What a disappointment.
Finger painting? No thanks. Looks like my R400 is going to stay for a while longer.
Hoping Asus or someone else releases a more worthwhile product for us artists.
Looks pretty cool, but will be waiting for the second gen and the inevitable price drop. It'll start getting irresistible at around $250.

This is the bastard child of the iphone and mac. This thing is for suckers.
no pressure sensetivity
no disc tray
no multitasking
no usb ports
no high quality gaming
no class
its the intersection of giant iphones and overpriced netbooks! why would i want this thing for that much money?
I think the pricing is to compete with netbooks which are only to browse the web, it is a bit disappointing i was hoping for something revolutionary.
Downsides turning me away:
No camera.
Can't run more than one application at a time. (so no music while working on something else.)
No stylus it seems
Thus not pressure sensitive.
Pricey - But they are probably doing it since its the only multi touch device like it at that size and taking advantage of it.
And like many of you i Think i'll wait till someone releases a pressure sensitive tablet.
Though i think it's a step in the right direction, they just need to evolve from it to expand it and make it better.
Kind wish wacom made a USB pressure sensitive pen that would work without a wacom tablet. so it could be used in any PC tablets wether attached by wire, or bluetooth wireless. (if there is such a thing leme know)

If anyone stumbles upon anything similar to the iPad but with pressure sensitivity, i'm all ears.

iPad Demonstration Video on apple.com
The Brushes Demo is at 42:10
Eh. I can take it or leave it. The only time I'd use this is when doing studies from life, but I have a moleskine and handy small set of art tools for that...
No multitasking and no flash support kills it for me. It has the potential to be cool, but they dropped the ball big time with it's limited features. What were they thinking?
They lost me at iPhone os, it was built for the iPhone so why put it on this? So that it can only do what apple wants like the iPhone... They should have gone with a propped os.
To say the processor is a real screamer with out the opportunity to see it multitask is a bit of an over statement.
