    Talking Publishing comics in France

This is my first thread so, please forgive me if I make any mistake
Lately I have been watching a lot of french comics, beautifully published and beautifully drawn. Lots of them are based on fantasy, a genre I love.
And I was wondering how hard to enter this market is and if some of you could enlighten me about pages rates in french comic market?

    Thanks!

    Patricia

I can only presume you're refering to Olivier Ledroit's Black Moon Chronicles and other graphic novels of same style or even same artist. Hmm, i can also only assume that for you to get your fantasy successfully published you'd pretty much have to one-up that guy. He found his niche and set a strong trend. Your vision and style will have to compete with his as far as the fans of genra are concirned. So your vision and style better be completely different, otherwise i wouldn't bother.

Put it on the internet and update frequently. I hadn't heard of Olivier Ledroit before this thread, but I know who Michael Poe is, and there's a serious talent gap between the two.

You can try to contact directly some artist.

Subscribe on this site : http://www.bdgest.com/

then go on the forum and search threads for some fantasy comics you know.

Sometime (only for recent comics) the artist post some answers (their nicks are green) .
Then click on his name and send him a private message.

2 examples on heroic fantasy :

    Hi,
Here are 9 pages of a discussion (in French) about the rate per page (assume it's large A4 format): http://www.cfsl.net/forum_v3/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=46029
If you speak French the comic section of that forum might interest you as well (he visto dibujantes argentinos y españoles participar ahi)
    Hope this helps
