Ahhh wonderful use of texture, i cant let myself use such loose strokes, any tips? Are there any things i cold be thinking about to display texture in a rough yet clear way like this?
Also its great to see illustrator and artist evolve their typographic skills, just one opinion of mine, helvetica is so over used. Lol. Although very classic.
Thanks! Hmmm, I'd say that in terms of keeping your lines loose, try working more quickly and allow yourself to make mistakes. For example, you could say, "ok, I'm going to make an image in 2 mins, and I can't use the undo button." Another thing you could try is zooming really far out from the canvas so you can only work in broad motions, and not get hung up on the detail. For texture, hmm, I don't really know. I'd say a big part of it is having the right brush. There are so many out there that are really bad. Finding a good brush and then using it so you find that sweet spot between no texture and having way to much texture where it just turns out as mush. I think you do a good job showing texture with the cross hatching in your pen sketches, perhaps you could try something like that in your digital painting?
As for Helvetica, haha, I agree it's totally overused. Have you see the documentry about Hevetica? Its pretty amazing.

Yeah ive been trying to incorporate my etching into my digital paintings, grr, more practice i guess. Im going to keep my brush at one size and see what happens. Lol Thanks for the awesome sketching tips, they're the little things that you know but sometimes forget if you dont use the often enough. C:
Also that harmony in the last piece is amazing, loving the colours very succinct. I want to see more drawing from you also!

The 360 barcode is a great idea. You should patent it now before they steal it. Haha. Watch out when putting putting your designs on 3d objects, the logo should curve with the can, just looks a little stiff. The birdbath is gorgeous, very stock fantasy piece, which is always great. How long did it take? SUBWAAAAAYZOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMBIIIIIIIIIIIIESSSSSSS AAAAAAAAAAAH
Thanks, awesome feedback! I knew something was a little off with the cans but I couldn't figure out what it was. The birdbath piece took maybe 45 mins? Stock fantasy is a nice way of saying cliche, haha, which I'll admit it is. I wasn't super satisfied with how the lighting turned out on that one, its a little too 'bleached' out.

Sketch of the Day 2-16 | A concept for a animation based on Daft Punk's Around the World/Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. It got a little confusing putting the atom structure together and coordinating when words would match up, haha. You have to use your imagination, but hopefully you can see how it would work.

Sketch of the Day 2-23 | Today, while riding the bus, I passed by a Jamba Juice, and I noticed that the logo is a little out dated and tacky. I mean, what's up with those letters connected by the serifs? And the weird offset shadow thing? Long story short, I decided give the redesign a shot. I tried to make this logo sleeker and more readable. I wanted to convey ideas such as fresh, juicy, fun, and vibrant. The individual raindrop shapes that are meant to portray juice, swirl together, much like a blender swirls smoothies, into a sliced fruit shape. The original logo is on the left, my redesign is in the center with some process work on the left.

I love that you mix graphic design into these. Awesome work.
Thanks! Yeah, I feel like I can only go so far if I just learned the illustration stuff, so I'm trying to keep my options open and learn everything, haha.
