some great progression here! you bridgeman studies are awesome. i watched the video it was really interesting to watch you getting the gesture and proportion pretty well. i think more of these and then challenge yourself with some from imagination. Great work once again!

Hey thanks a lot I thought it might be interesting to put up a video. I know I find seeing how others work very interesting. Your right about the imagination, I seem to grasp stuff much more quickly when I go straight from studies into imagination testing it while its still fresh in my head. Thanks for stopping by

Been a while but I've got some more studies to post. Not to happy with the Men, thought I'd try hatching for a shade and while its enjoyable it just didn't look right to me and I got sick of it so I rushed through them..also realised feet are not easy to draw so..I did some pages of Bridgeman studies. More from my mind tomorrow right now..soo tired.

If anyone has any tips on where I'm going wrong with the hatching and on retaining all that info from those studies It's much appreciated.

Edit: Just realised those outlines are really ugly..

Ok so just been doing some studies lately easing myself back into it all because I've been lazy..

Theres one still life of my inhaler, done almost entirely with a hard brush. People have mentioned my stuff looking to soft so hopefully this is a step up, still not to pleased with it tho. Second is a study from a screen cap, outline and value. I'm thinking I might follow along with the screen cap thread they have going on. Not finished yet but all criticism welcome, I'm having some trouble with value so any advice would be appreciated.

wow. I absolutely love how tidy your bridgeman sketches are- I am doing Hogarth at the moment and my studies always seem to be really messy!!
Keep it up, I love it. (And I didn't see this sketchbook before, well well)

Hey thanks I tend to get my lines down light and make sure I want them before I darken them up, saves me getting those nasty marks all over my paper. Messy isn't so bad tho, sometimes a looser look is nice from all those tight lines.

Just a few gestures here starting at 2 minutes *1st* page and then 90 seconds *2nd* page some warm ups, I'm pretty rusty so am trying to work my way back into it might do a few more pages before I move into some longer studies. I always find its easier for me to retain the stuff when I move straight from gestures into stuff from my imagination, so I'll be aiming to do more of that.

All from a program, unfortunately theres no place around that does life nudes, so for now its whatever I can get my hands on.

Hey, thanks for the comment on my sketchbook! That last still life looks like you really learned something, looks a lot better than the earlier fruit ones, and it's great that you're doing anatomy, keep it up!

Hey thanks for stopping by , yeah I'd really love to draw people but, generally I just don't know where to start, I'm hoping getting some more solid anatomy into my brain might help with that.

So just another Gesture Dump, think I nearly hit 50 this time to all in the 90 second range some a bit longer at 2 minutes, you should be able to tell the difference. Don't really feel like I'm getting anywhere at the moment, but I'll keep on pushing through. I think the problem is I'm lacking in the basics, got to get that down before the rest will come.

hu-hathanks for stopping by. I plan on doing some longer studies to but got tired, the quick ones are a nice warm up for me tho

hitnrun thank you, and yes I'm really liking Bridgman for the studies I've been doing, it's nice to hear you say that, because I frequently feel lost myself, more so in the how to get where I want to be.

Rain Walker Awesome its always nice to see what people think, all the anatomy studies I've done so far are from Bridgemans 'Constructive Anatomy' it's a great book if you haven't checked it out.

Brandon Pilcher I know feet and hands give me trouble, so I did some Bridgman and moved onto some from my Imagination, I should go and refresh it tho, I'll post what I do. I'd give it a shot I find Bridgmans work pretty..bold I guess and it seems easier for me to keep in my head.

Thanks for all the kind words everybody. I should have more for you all later today

Some more stuff, haven't been drawing much the last 2 days, kind of feeling like I don't know what I should be drawing again, tho I know I need to start drawing more, the amount of work I'm doing is far from what it should be, I guess if I just concentrate on increasing how much I draw the rest will come.

First up is some Bridgeman, thinking its time I start veering away from the art books and into more life drawing, and stuff from my imagination. Next up we have some MMA studies and one I haven't finished yet. The last two are some stuff I tried drawing from my imagination.

    C&C is much appreciated

PaintMyBrain thanks, yeah I'm thinking some still lifes and much as I'd love to start environments, I think I'll leave it until I feel as tho I have a better grasp of the human figure.

And just a quickie that I did before, managed to catch my niece sleeping on the couch, and tried to get her down as best I could in between all the wiggling she did, pretty rough, but I'm happy with it considering the little effort I put in.

Not much right now just a little something I did this morning, thought I'd try to draw my towel so I took a step back gave it a toss and ta da drawing material. It's just the line work and then me trying to block in the value..feels like I have a lot of trouble blocking the stuff in, like I'm not getting the shape right or something.Mmore practice I guess, maybe I should pay more attention to my pencils before I try to improve my digital. Any suggestions?

    I love Bridgeman ^_^ he's my favorite.
You've got some good stuff in here, there's already noticeable improvement from page 1 .
Keep experimenting with your brushes, you've gone from all soft edges to all hard edges. You've gotta find the happy medium.

    Happy sketching
